Yeah, looks like the ACC is dumbing down to make this happen... the Cards sure as hell didn't get any smarter overnight.

Iteresting stat I came upon: Entering freshmans % on the SAT exam between 700-800. UL Reading 7% Math 7%. UK Reading 6% and Math 8%. Would UK be welcomed any more than Louisville in the ACC based on Academics, I dont think so. Vandy is the King of academics in the SEC and they probably would be the only school to be welcomed if academics was the only reason a conference took into account when deciding on who would be allowed in. Im not taking up for UL because I have little regard in general for the Cards but people who live in glass houses shouldnt throw stones.

The fact of the matter is that UL has some good professional programs. There undergraduate programs are pretty weak across the board. The bottom line is they don't match up well with ACC. UVA, Duke, Wake, UNC, NcSt, VaTech, FSU, and Clemson are all very good academic undergraduate institutions. There will probably be additional attrittion by the top notch schools b/c of the knee jerk reaction to include a school like UL and the fact that they don't bring any tv market share. Just my thoughts.

The academic basis for conference participation is mostly going out the window, for good or bad. The Big 10 might hold onto some semblance of it, but that's it.

I just did a quick scan of the US News college rankings It's hard to make an argument that UofL fits with any BCS conference I only see three schools in BCS conferences ranked lower (Texas Tech, WVU, and South Florida). Uof L doesn't really compare to the Georgetown or Notre Dame in the Big East, either. I'd say they're pretty lucky to have made the ACC move, even if the ACC deteriorates significantly.

That is until UVA, VT, UNC, and NCState leave... That will water down the conference quite a bit!!

Mark it down the SEC will add more teams in a few years. This move was about trying to make the ACC the best basketball conference in America and ND was added mainly to boost the football part. Think about that adding ND in football gives them a national championship contender because they are ND and if they go undefeated and it won't be hard in that conference especially if FSU leaves. Over the past few years the ACC in basketball has been very very weak! Besides only four schools for the most part that conference has been equally as weak in basketball as they were in football. U of L was added for basketball mainly and in the next few years look for the SEC to add a few more basketball friendly schools even though recruiting wise the SEC looks to be getting stronger. Hopefully coach Stoops will be able to get our football program turned in the right direction and we can compete year in and year out. But the reason league's are having so much turnover I think is about money for the most part and another reason is to keep the SEC from dominating college football like we have the last seven years. Heck three more years the SEC could possible have dominated college football for a decade, wow that is super impressive.
