I had an epiphany today...

  • Began this beautiful day with breakfast with some buddies. Headed to the golf course to hit some balls and get ready for the 10:00 am tee time. Won a few shekels and met my beautiful bride for lunch. Got home, cut the TV on to check out the game. Saw the score was 33-3, changed clothes, headed out for a 20 mile bike ride. Topped off the day with an outdoor dinner at our favorite riverside restaurant and settled in to watch the end of the night games on TV.

Then it hit me like a ton of bricks. The best way to follow UK football is to not give it the time of day.

    Thanks Mitch.

  • I had to work so I recorded the game. Heard the final score before I got off work and called my wife and had her delete it before I got home. It did seem less painful.

  • I can tell you both that you didn't miss much. If you watched the first two minutes of the game, you viewed enough. UK recovers a fumbled kickoff. Guys are flying around and pumping their fists. Joker is on the field showing energy. UK's offense comes out on the field and can't crack the endzone. Then, they settle for a field goal. On S.C.'s next possession, they drive the length of the field and score easily. End of story and end of game. What a joke!

LOL, I did the same thing. Played nine holes in the AM, took the wife to Legacy Trail for a bike ride, and DVR'ed the game. Started watching at 3:30, was done by 5 and then had a friend over for a grill out.

I am done with the days of planning my schedule around a Kentucky kickoff at 12:20, until the team shows some life, I am going to "get a life" instead.

  • Add me to the list. My wife and I helped with a fundraiser and my dad was also invited. He kept trying to give me the score... I told him to stop that I was having a good day and there was no reason to let the game bring it down... he kept telling me regardless...

Sad but true, I handle this situation better if I just disengage. It easy to say "its just football", but when I invest caring and time it pisses me off.

So, I had a pretty darn good day...
