It's kinda funny

  • Very, very, very few people expected us to play well this yr.....but yet we're all making posts like we're all shocked that we played so poorly?

I know right. Most people were happy to predict 4-8 3-9 or the sunny 5-7, but they are shocked that this game was a lost. I made my prediction, 6-6, lose to UL then beat Miss st, beat UL, lose to Miss st. If you thought we were going to suck, THEN you win. happy being the loser winner.

  • It's because even those of us who didn't want to blindly believe that we were in for a 9 win season are still UK fans. That's why we were mad in the first place. Cause we hate seeing the little bit of success our program has had disentigrate before our eyes.

About half of the new people on here have berated those of us that doubted the direction of the program for a long time now. Funny how instead of apologizing for being A-holes to those of us who could actually see the truth, they're still makining post about how this team can still get it together and make a bowl. Well I guess anything is possible, but I've never seen a team that looks that bad in game 1 turn it around in a season, and I've been watching football for a long time.

UGA last year. Boise was good last year, but UGA looked BAD against them. Lost the next one too. then won 10 straight. not saying we would do that, but it HAS happened. I hate being negative. How can you and people doubt the direction of the program? We had 2-3 bad recruiting classes. It is self impossed probation by numbers. Hell, Boyd is the least of our concerns now, never thought i would say that. But Joker wasn't the ONLY person recruiting for those years.
Ideally, we would have Ryan Mosby and Ridge Wilson starting at LB instead of brause and maybe Dupree. Jarvis Walker would be the hybrid S instead of Simpson or Forrest. Dale Trimble would be one CB so we wouldn't have to move Neloms. Jerrell priester could have been a CB too.
We have had 35 out of 76 commits from the 2008-2010 classes on campus still. 1 of those is academically ineligible( A. Kendrick) and te 2008 class had 3 future NFL players (R. Cobb, W. Guy, D. Trevanthan) As a contrast, we still have 20 out of the 25 from the 2011 class, 2 of the 5 that aren't here are gone(J. Elliot and D. Hall) 3 of them went to JUCO (N. Daniel, D. Washington, and B. Tandy)
So 45 of our 85 scholarship players are from the last 2 classes. That includes, but isn't limited to: Starting QB, #2 WR, #4 WR, LT, LG, Rush backer, #1 FB, #1 FS, both backup CB, #1 WILL backer (either Mcduffen or Henderson) and the punter. 9 out of 24 Starters are true sophmores, RS freshmen, or True freshman. This isn't even counting the countless backups not already mentioned. We didn't match UL toughness in the FIRST game. I don't think this will be a problem the rest of the season because we have been punch in the gut once, you get up, and make sure it doesn't happen again. Go Cats!!! Let's beat the golden flashes so bad, they run the wrong way again. lol

The problem is that most of us, including me, that were optimistic so to speak think we would win 5 or 6 games really just expected us to put a reasonable team on the field. The offense look pretty good, but defense looked like a middle school. Did you all actually expect that poor of a showing?

Did you tune in to the 2006 season?

31 point loss to UL (which could have been much worse)
started 3-4 including a 49-0 loss at LSU.

    finish the season 6-1.

I don't think this will happen this season, but even here at UK we have seen that kind of turnaround. Everyone was calling for a midseason firing (you mightve been one of them!)

Offense was better than I expected...defense was much worse than I expected.

I predicted a 5-7 season. Defense makes me feel shaky though.

  • Trueukgamer how can we question it? Really? Let's see our head coach has never showed any promise what so ever as a HC. Our offensive coordinator couldn't cut it at a much better program in Tennessee. Our defensive coordinator couldn't cut it at Notre Dame which is a lot better program. Sure he had success at Cincy but he also had ryan and Tomlinson as assistants. Our HC took a program in a lot better shape and has made it the doormat of the SEC. Hell we couldn't even COMPETE with a young Big East team. Everybody talks about improved recruiting but we are continually in the upper 40's to mid 60's how is that much better? Truthfully we have the worst coaching staff in the SEC and it doesn't look like it's getting any better.

I was pretty shocked to see the defense look so poor, and a little surprised to see the offense work as well as it did, and probably disappointed to see the fumbles that happened.

Overall, probably more disappointed than impressed, but interested to see how we improve over the next three games.

  • Look, the only people who weren't calling for Brooks' head in '06the were apathetic to the program. I remember after that LSU defeat telling my A&P instructor at school that Brooks needed to go. "I just want to be competitive" was what I said. It was depressing. I'm thrilled he was able to turn it around, as '07 was a lot of fun. But we showed no heart Sunday and no fight. We aren't coming off of probation. Louisville shouldn't be that much better than us. It is very disconcerting. We didn't expect to win the SEC, but we did expect to be competitive with Louisville.
