I've noticed something...

  • A lot of names no longer appearing around here but popping up on another site.

I have to applaud everyone (Mods, Chris, Matt, D-Bird, etc) here for one simple reason: This board should be a place for discussion (even if it gets heated from time to time) but not irrational, hate filled idiocy. It does disappoint me though that this seems to affect the overall level of participation by posters. It's like folks can't have discourse without a constant place to spew, bitch and moan.

Bitching and moaning is common on ALL sites... the difference is what other sites have to offer.

Why some prefer one site over another is a matter of personal preference.

Not true at all! The difference is what site mods let posters get away with. Rules are you can critize players, coaches, admin...etc. But you can not disrespect them with name calling. racism, etc.....That is why TOS is going straight to the junkyard! That's a fact!

False. Go look at the top threads over on TOS and the posters there and what they have to say.

They want no discourse, no debate. They want their opinions parroted no matter how illogical or outright false they may be. Remember folks you're not entitled to an opinion...you're entitled to an INFORMED opinion.

  • Things are a lot more peaceful on here lately. A couple of guys have gone "poof". Coincidence? I think not.

  • All is well as long as you drink "Blue Kool Aid". But disagree with any aspect of the team, Joker, or the UK admin. and you are labeled a radical.

These sites stay in business by being able to cover UK sports so it is obvious the angle is always pro UK but UK is not perfect, nor is any aspect of this footbll program. However when this is pointed out some either don't agree and call you names, or rather hide their heads in the in the Blue Grass.

Voitare said it best. "I may not agree with what you say but I will fight to the death your right to say it."

  • Well stated dice. If u say anything negative on here there's a group that will attack your opinion. A message board is for debate and news. If everyone had the same opinion there wouldn't be anything to discuss.

    jeffries123

  • Nah, that's not true and you guys know it.
It's when folks dont know the facts and start posting blatant innacuracies to promote their agendas that some of us get bent out of
Shape. Perfect example was last week when somebody tried to say that uk (Barnhart) hasn't spent any money on capital projects for uk football.

  • A big part of the change which is evident on all boards is that there is no buzz about UKFB at this time. No excitement equals no posts and no replies. No posts means no disagreements. This will all change after the UL game one way or another.

Huh? There are several very constructive and informative posts about football on this board right now. There doesn't have to be a fight for it to = excitement it interest.

    hoptownukfan

  • There will be plenty of activity on this board beginning in 8 days. Trust me.

Sorry, but you and MoC are misguided in your attempt to debunk my post as being false. Don't get me wrong... It's not that what you guys are saying is untrue. It just that what you said are prime examples of what I meant when I posted... "the difference is what other sites have to offer".

I wasn't just talking about site bells and whistles... my comment includes the quality of posters, mods, rules, enforcement of rules, cost, site traffic, board and thread participation, etc.

Again, why one chooses one site over another is a matter of personal preference. For example... things that may keep me coming back to a site, are the same things that may turn you away from the site.

In the end... who really gives a rats ass? coffee

Bottom line is... if we all felt the same about one site or another, then we'd all go "poof".

Not the case however... some of us are still here. cheers

  • See it didn't take much. A few thoughtful threads isn't really what I would call buzz. When the leading thread is about the UL board I would say things aren't really hopping here. I also think that the decreasing interest in buying tickets by UK fans to the UL game and season tickets is an indication that there is not a lot of excitement about this year except among the die hard fans. Believe me I pay attention.

    zcats

... except among the die hard fans.

Is there any other type of fan... who matter? I think not.

Die hard fans "naturally" get excited this time of year... we don't require artificial reasons. We don't allow the past or the comments of any doom & gloomer to spoil our optimism.
We get behind our team and show support in any way we possibly can. Without "Die Hard" fans, what kind of support would they have? NO KIND... that's what.
Who the hell would want that kind of fan anyway?

As far as the team is concerned, you're either a die hard fan or not a fan at all... if you don't think so, then ask any player who their real fans are.

    Sincerely,
    Die Hard

Isn't this a double standard what you just stated? If you state your negative opinion and someone has a negative opinion about your opinion how is it wrong or classified as an "attack"? It's a debate. If you are gonna dish it out you gotta be able to take it.

It is not about their board, per se.

It is a lively discussion about the football game. 14 pages about the game. oops 17 pages

Clearly we care, and are doing what we can to make this the best site and the best board for UK basketball, UK basketball recruiting, UK football, UK football recruiting and other sports.

We think our content is very good, are proud of our board technology, are incredibly proud of our mobile site and I think the staff here are trusted experts with experience covering this beat.

The board and community is something we are going to focus on heavily in the next few weeks/months. We obviously want more posters and more discussion - but it has to be the right kind of posters and the right kind of discussion (as many of you mentioned).

We are going to go more VIP on things for sure - not just to encourage new members to sign up, but so that current members are getting value for their money. In order to help balance the newer focus on heavier VIP content and posts, we are offering a special deal for new subscribers to try the site as a VIP member for the rest of the year.

We understand folks will disagree with posts and opinions, but we don't want any personal attacks, name-calling, etc. You can go after the argument/reasoning, but don't go after the poster.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks to all of you who made the move with us to 247Sports about 18 months ago. Special thanks to those of you who made the move and have been with us since the launch here. We appreciate you sticking with us, spreading the word about the site and helping your community grow. Tell fellow UK fans about the site and the board. Hopefully we'll continue to grow and grow in the right way with the right people.

Work on your reading skills. The thread is about the game and the two programs playing next Sunday.

  • 1003blue there's a diffenrence in attacking an opinion and calling it stupid. Then just disagreeing and debating with a diferent opinion.
