Jerry Meyer: "Shabazz to UCLA"

  • tommy said...

If you think we are "pretty screwed" which were your words then yeah, I think your underestimating this class and Cal. I also think Cauley is going to surprise you. He definitely needs work but will be a nice player by March. Cal will add players to this class regardless of who it is. We do not have to loaded with 1st round picks at every position to be a final four contender, look at last years roster. That team showed you can win with 2 or 3 studs and quality role players.

Cal is not going to have line ups like this team every year. Its unfair to everyone to have those "typical UK fan expectations" btw, I'm not sayin that's what you are doing, just speaking in general, but thinkin "we are pretty screwed" with a top 5 class as is right now is mind boggling.

When I say screwed I mean we will be a top 15-20 team haha. Also, keep in mind that the 2012 class is not as strong as the previous 3 classes. I don't think Goodwin or Poythress will have a Wall, Knight, Cousins type impact. Shabazz on the other hand will.

And that's your opinion bro, and imo ypir underestimating them. Harrow and Goodwin will be a sick sick back court. Poythress will play a role similar to that of MKG. Wiljer and Cauley will make solid contributions. I do agree that the depth will be weak buy what team has had real depth the last 3 years? Cal only plays 6-7 guys anyway.

Don't forget, that most of the other strong teams from this year will look completely different as well. I think it will be a lot like last year, with no real dominant teams and wide open.

I still think we will be pre season top 10

What is your opinion of Jeff goodman's comments today that "the uk staff and ucla staffs are telling people they both have shabazz".

UCLA may be, but not UK. He may be hearing via someone around the UK program that they feel good, but it's not coming from the staff.

Jeff I respect your opinion and what you are being told. With that said there are quite of you people with sources very close UK who say UK will get Shabazz or are right there with UCLA and that the staff feels good about their chances. I think the truth is somewhere in between.

Oh, I don't necessarily disagree with you. Just giving you my educated guess based on a collection of strong info.

The "wishful thinking" comment was more about the kind of expectations Cal has raised. The BBN thinks it's getting everyone these days. cool

Now, one day later, suddenly Gtown has emerged? C'mon...

Not out of the blue at all. Chris and I have been way out in front on the Noel-Gtown stuff.

Drum you have any idea who Cal is going to visit this weekend? Maybe call all of our remaining targets and ask if Cal is planning on comin by? LMWAO

I think where he goes will be very telling.

Chris and I have been doing that tonight, trying to find out when and where he'll be.

Agree with you. It will be very telling. May even have a surprise name or two.

Cal was at the Celtics game today, I assume he saw his daughter and will probably visit Noel tomorrow then head out west and visit Shabazz and Bennett.

Not sure how its just my opinion considering everyone says that the 2012 class is weak compared to 2009/2010/2011. That's just a fact. Now I do agree with you that other teams will be weak so that will even things out a bit.

And yet Evan Daniels is saying 3 sources have told him today Noel is going to land at Georgetown.

We're guaranteed to get Noel now.
