As I understand it, Dooley was given the option of finishing out the season just as Phillips was. Dooley decided not to exercise it. I could be wrong though, I'm not all that in-tune with Tennessee football.

I sense there's a huge difference between how the UT players feel about Dooley vs. how the UK players feel about Joker. I doubt they begged him to stay.

But I'd say in 9 times out of 10, you'd want the old coach out of the picture. Joker was an exception because of his relationship with the university, the players, and the AD.
