Joe B. Hall supports Petrino

  • geeforCATS said...

Would have to think that Joe B. comments come from stories told by Mike Summers. If those stories are true and several current assistants (Summers, Nord & Cassity) all give their support of a Bobby P hire, I can see no reason not to hire him now.

I can get behind Summers and Cassity but Nord did a terrible job this season and should not be back. twocents

Quick didn't go as far as saying he would play for Petrino. Just that Petrino would be a good choice for UK and Quick would take a stronger look at UK with him as coach.

Thanks J, I just read that article and was wondering where he said he WOULD play for Petrino in that article.

I didn't say he WOULD. I said he BASICALLY said he would. One it's not definitive.

Not yesterday's (there wasn't one) but for the Vanderbilt game, I believe.

Actual attendance was closer to 16,000.

    Correct. That was my point.

There seems to be some misunderstanding of the point being made because I left the info hanging out without fully explaining it in a good natured attempt at humor and was certain someone would recognize what I thought was obvious..

    1. Yesterday they (UK Recruiting @WildcatRecruits) mentioned a lot of info about Petrino being looked at up to and including that he would be the next UK football coach. rgunslinger posted their tweets and mentioned that they had posted good basketball information in the past but that he was unaware of how reliable their football information was.

    2. I looked at some of their other tweets made yesterday (Nov 10) and one stated "UK just announced attendance for today's football game is 48,000." I understood the difference between actual attendance and announced attendance but still had a problem with the number since we didn't actually play a game yesterday. :D So, I made a post (later erased, but not before it was replied to with quote) where I pasted in their statement and added that it made me feel their value regarding football information was suspect.

Note: Suspect for two reasons. 1.) We didn't actually play yesterday. 2.) Even if I were to extend the "principle of charity" and assume they were referring to last week but accidentally stated "today's football game", it would mean that they used twitter to post old information that was already widespread because of its difference from the actual and didn't even bother to mention that important fact. IOW, even assuming they knew it was last week's numbers and accidentally said "today's" they still seemed oblivious to the significance of those numbers.

    3. Seemingly oblivious to my point that they were referring to yesterday's game (when we didn't play one) when giving their announced attendance (or being oblivious to the fact I was pointing out that mistake), shauner17 replied to my post and stated this "It has been said on here 1,000 times the UK announced attendance includes all tickets sold as well as people working the game. Not cheeks in seats..."

    4. Of course, I already knew the difference between announced and actual but that wasn't what I was referring to., So I asked "Are you actually saying that was the announced attendance for yesterday's game?" because we didn't play yesterday and that was the fact I was pointing out to support my belief the site had little value for football information.

To repeat, even if they knew that number was last week's and just made a brain flub to call it "today's", there is still no reason to post old material without lasting value on twitter. Last week's announced attendance is always old news and when there is such a gap between the announced attendance and the actual that the announced becomes meaningless, that tweet becomes even more outdated when not coupled with the actual. IOW, it shows a serious lack in credibility for their tweets to be used as a source of football inside information, IMO.

  • Aha. I see now. I remember them tweeting that out. I took it to be a joke like, "hey, UK didn't have a game today, but UK is still reporting 48,000 were there." If it was serious though, then yea, that's a little misguided. We are on the same page now.

    Carry on.

Perhaps I am mistaken then. I could see that as a joke tweet.

  • imho, petrino coming to uk levels the playing field in regard to recruiting louisville.and over time, uk will own kentucky recruits because petrino make good football players into all americans, plays a style everyone likes, and will beat you by 100 points if given the chance. he brings toughness and demands toughness.

  • SMMFDH.

Really, some guy made like a 4 point post on the tweet about football attendance? It was a joke, since they didn't play on Saturday, and UK always says the attendance is much higher than it normally is.

It's a good thing breathing is autonomic.
