  • Congrats being the first freshman to win the Heisman.

interesting what he will do next year...

The idea of Davis saying another year would have been so dream like. I bet texas AM fans are going crazy right now.

  • Congrats to Johnny Football he deserved it. He was just fantastic and just a freshman. All 3 of the candidates were worthy of winning it but the right guy actually won it.

  • I bet next year will be a let down. He caught some teams by surprise this year. Everybody and their mother will be trying to figure out a way to stop or contain him next year. Lets not forget he does play in the best defensive division in college football and you can bet those coaches and players do not like being shown up by a frosh especially. He's also not a very big guy so one good hit could take him out. I look for him to improve on his pocket skills. I don't look for the running around stuff to work as much on average next year. Teams in the NFL though are starting to realize with RG3 that if you try to spy him then he's beat you already. The best thing to do is get after his weapons. I expect that trickle down to the SEC West. Its gonna be fun to tune into his games next year. His style of play is so much fun to watch combined with that offense thats really what College Football is all about and IMO is what makes it the best sport to watch around. Boy aTm arrived on the scene in the SEC in a big freakin way didn't they, DAMN!!

  • Lucky for him (AND A&M) he didn't come to UK... where all the "smart" people would've INSISTED he be RedShirted.

You know... because the SEC is SOOOO tough and therefore, NOOOO place for a frosh QB. whistling

You mean just like the "smart" people at aTm insisted he take a RS year in spite of him enrolling early? Johnny Football is a RS freshman who enrolled in January of 2011. I still love watching him play though.

In that case, I stand corrected... but damn, they sure made it sound like he was a true freshman who won the Heisman (on ESPN and the NFL network)

As far as I'm concerned, he's NOT a freshman... so all that hype yesterday was BS.

Yes. He enrolled in January of 2011, went through the spring drills, then took a RS year. He had been at aTm 1 1/2 years when this season started, and turned 20 last week. However, what he does is amazing, even if he was a RS senior.

  • For me, the Johnny Manziel story is the most refreshing thing about this college football season.

Had Texas A & M not fired former head coach Mike Sherman, Johnny Football might not have started at quarterback this season. Kevin Sumlin was named the TAM head coach in the offseason and brought his spread attack to College Station. There was competition at the quarterback position, and Johnny Football was named the starter in August and the rest is history.

It just goes to show you, the position of quarterback is about decision making and execution and a player doesn’t have to be 6’5”/240 lbs. to be effective in the college game.

For what it is worth, if Johnny Manziel was on the UK roster, he would have never played quarterback for the Joker Phillips and Randy Sanders. He does not pass their looks test.

I am hopeful and look forward to Coach Mark Stoops finding the right multi-facet, athletic quarterback to run his new offense. There are other Johnny Footballs out there.

Thats what I like about the spread. You don't have to fit a certain mold to run it. You just have to be able to make plays and know how to play football. You don't have to have a certain amount of experience, athletic ability, size or anything. Just go out there and use your instincts. I'm glad we got Neal Brown coming in here. Gonna be a lot of fun not to have to have a 6'5 240 lb cerebral 5th year Senior with an accurate cannon or an arm every year at QB just to get to a bowl. lol.
