John Calipari had already signed the top-ranked point guard and shooting guard. With the commitment of 5-star big man Dakari Johnson, Calipari added the top-ranked center to the Cats' 2013 class.

Based on his Twitter timeline, I don't think you can discount how big of a factor "coming back home" was for Dakari in his recruitment.
Still sounds like he has a ton of local ties, family/friends in the area.
