This in my opinion is everything wrong with the MJ's GM abilities/the Bobcats in general. Do you--as a team with zero legit NBA starters currently--really draft at #2 overall a guy who's absolute ceiling is to be a nice complimentary piece to a true star?

Scottie Pippen was not a compliment player. He was a Wade to Lebron type player. We Jordan retired Pippen lead that team to the NBA finals and lost to a very talented Rockets team. Being compared to Pippen is not a knock on him as a player at all.

I don't think Pippen was NEARLY a Wade or Lebron type. And I wasn't commenting so much on MKG at all, just on Jordan's selecting a player he judged as described when he has no one else to play with. There is seriously not an quality NBA starter on that team. Walker MAY pan out, Gordon's production has gone down drastically. Its a team of projects. MKG is a great glue guy and hard worker and motivator, but I hate seeing any Cat go to that miserable franchise.

Pippen was a hell of a player, remember he was on the dream team. MKG being compared by MJ to him I think is a great compliment because as good as MJ was I don't think he wins as many ships as he did without Pippen

Pippen wasn't Wade or LeBron, but he was definitely an upper echelon player. I would not consider this a knock on MKG at all...except that MJ said it...

If you can get a sure-fire Pippen type player at No. 2 you take it. A Lebron, Durant, Wade, Jordan type player comes very rarely. Maybe once every two or three drafts. Supposedly Davis is that player in this draft. Pippen comparisons are great. He was voted a top 50 player ever in the NBA.
I really think MKG will be great, just because he's already so good and just scratched his potential.

I think the reference is more about style and what he can bring to a team rather than whether he'll be a star or not.
Like Pippen, MKG will be a great defensive player and offensively very complimentary. Not a knock at all...but MKG isn't the guy that's going to get you 30 night in and night out and carry a team's offensive load. He's the guy that can give you 15 or so all while making your team infinitely better. He'll jump up there and have big scoring nights, especially as his jumper improves. But he is going to fill up the stat sheet...steals, blocks, points, rebounds, assists.

MKG has all the potential of Pippen and then some... he also has the drive of Jordan so add the two pieces together and the sky is the limit for MKG.

I think Scottie Pippen is a good character comparison, but not a good play comparison. Their strengths were completely different.
