2 Junior Days? That's certainly a change from the past and maybe it's a good sign.

Pretty sure uk has had multiple junior days the last few years.

The more times we get these kids on campus the higher a % chance we have of getting them.

  • UK always has at least two. I would assume there is a rule as to how many you can have though.

Why? They are an unofficial visit. As long as it's not a dead period, they are allowed.

I *think* they had 2 last year. But, yeah, it's a good sign.

Gives them more individual attention. That's the main thing. Don't want them to feel like it's a cattle call. UK ran into that with their first Friday Night Blue Lights camp. About 500 kids showed up, and they just couldn't handle that kind of crowd. Kids were rushed through drills way too fast.

  • I hope this 2013 class ends up huge for UK. Some success on the field this year could have huge implications.

it really all boils down to that first game against UL. I mean, Win and we have that momentum to build on for the rest of the year and beat Strong and put a halt to that. And lose, and it's an almost the world is falling mentality with the fan base.

  • PEOPLE THESE KIDS ARE NOT DUMB. THEY KNOW THAT TO BUILD A PROGRAM UP YOU NEED TO GET THE PLAYERS TO DO IT. WITH ALL THE CRAP THIS YR AND UK'S RECORD THEY STILL HAD A GREAT CLASS. LEAVE JOKER ALONE LET HIM DO HIS THING AND IN A FEW YRS UK WILL BE IN THE THICK OF THINGS. THIS TAKES ALOT OF TIME A THICK SKINNED AD.
JOKER WILL WIN AT UK PERIOD. COACH K AT DUKE WAS HORRID HIS FIRST FEW YRS. SO WAS BOBBY B. AT FLA ST. IT TAKES TIME.

  • I'd like to see 3-4 commits come out of the JR Days.

Jeff - Can you explain exactly what all goes on with the recruits at these Junior Day events? Do they go through drills like at a camp, or is it just them seeing the facilities, meeting the coaches and players, etc.?

I believe they do it all on Junior Day, I'm not sure if its a weekend deal or just a one day event

    Why so serious?

  • I believe they do drills, but it is not open to the public.

  • Rasheen Jones may be coming to our JR Day but he may already be committed he's confirmed he's going to the OSU Jr day this weekend and if they offer he'll likely jump on it.

They don't do much football-related. Sometimes they'll measure and weigh the guys. It's more of an opportunity for the coaches and players to build relationships with the prospect and his family. They see some of the major facilities, talk to them about academic opportunities, that kind of stuff.

  • Per Garrett Tucker on Twitter, RB/LB Quinten James of North Cobb HS will be visiting for j-day.

And, no, they don't run drills at j-day.
