Just Shut Up, Demarcus

  • He's at it again. I don't care if he was right. Don't be a b***ch and take it to the media.

  • Clearly I'm barking up the wrong tree here. My point is you don't go to the media, you take it to the source. You have a history of acting and saying things irrationally, so maybe you should stay out of the spotlight for a little while.

And yes, the league babies their stars. Every league does. Is this news to anyone?

Agreed. Definitely not a fan when he pouts or says something about being unhappy that affects the team. However, he is not in the wrong for calling out Blake Griffin. Griffin's a stud, no doubt, but he stares down the opponent every time he dunks and he definitely over-reacts when he barely gets touched to get the foul called. I do enjoy his commercials tho. Destroy him Saturday, DeMarcus.

  • I should not have called Demarcus out, but I think he handled this the wrong way. I love this university and all of its former players. I just think he handled this the wrong way.

He shoves off with his left forearm too, but that's today's game unfortunately. It's the same in every league. Taking it to the media is going to make it worse before it gets better.

I get you're saying and I agree. Demarcus just needs to shut Blake down during the game and that will speak volumes more than words.

I just hope this doesn't get ugly with hard fouls, etc..

  • I honestly don't see them talking it out. I can see it getting ugly. I don't think it will come from Blake though. He seems to keep a level head.

Sorry bro but there are more and more players saying the same thing about Blake Griffin, and if he doesn't watch what he is doing, he is going to lose some of his marketability. He is becoming a dirty player, and I have no problem with him being called out at this point. Granted, he was only being called out for "acting" (which he very clearly was). What is bullshit about the whole thing though is if your a superstar and are going to get the whistle as it is, then why resort to bush league tactics? You don't see any other superstar doing this and that's why I hope it backfires on him. Does this help Cuz's cause, probably not. Does he have a point, absolutely.

Unfortunately, there is no other way available to Boogie in this case. Everything he said is spot on. I live near LA and see most of Griffin's games. He is a stud, no doubt. But in nearly half of his dunks he fouls like hell. The two highlights on espn that Shaq loved when Blake dunked on Gasol would have been whistled as obvious fouls by any other player. In the first one he bulldozed himself over the back of Gasol and in the next one he elbowed him in the face to clear the way for his dunk. He could be starting a trend (other players are watching his success, and others still are tired of being embarrassed) toward violence in the NBA. This of course will be welcomed by 80-90% of the audience. After a few nasty injuries, the Commissioner will institute hockey rules.frustrated

I agree with most everything you said, except the put-back dunk was a good no call IMO. The ball was so high up and far enough behind Gasol that if you were a freak of nature that could climb up there and get it, then you he had a right to it. Most of the contact came after Griffin had possession of the ball. I just watched it again and once Pau realized what was going on (too late!) he def. tried to flop.

Not trying to belittle your over all point because you are absolutely right, but just something I noticed about that particular play.

Who's the first person to stick a mike in your face after a hard fought game? The media, plus its still fresh in your mind about the calls that the other guy got. Let him vent, its another step to maturity and besides he is playing well right now but lets not get down on Cuz because he speaks his mind. Heck look where it got Charles Barkley? Cuz could be a panelist on ESPN in the future.

  • Can't we just support Cuz. We all know he's a little bit crazy and a little bit immature. Part of that comes from being a competitor and I think the other half comes from him feeling that he doesn't get the respect he deserves. He's a bit of a loose cannon but thats part of what I like about him. I know he played his butt off in a UK jersey and he's been dominating lately in the league. He's gonna say things. Big freakin deal as UK fans we need to support the guy which doesn't mean you have to like everything he does or says.

  • I enjoy watching the new "Lob City Clippers." Blake kinda reminds me of one of my all time fav players as a kid, The human highlight film D. Wilkens, although Wilkens was much more skilled. But I also think Blake is very overated. He is very limited outside 5 feet from the rim, very similar to Dwight Howard (btw, what a friggin mess down there...wow) The NBA is going to market the shit out of guys like this and build an image around them. You could take the same exact player without the NBA marketing juggernaught behind them and Boogie's comments are a non issue. Also, if this were Kobe (or any other superstar with a bit of a "mean streak" and again, not nearly as big an issue. Remember when Durant called Bosh "a fake wanna be tough guy?" But when your a guy like Cousins with a pre conceived image before you play a single game, AND your going after one of the NBA's "Golden boys"...nope, not a good idea.

He things he has said about Blake are absolutely true. I am a disciple of brutal honesty, even if I don't like it or wanna hear it. I'm the that guy that if your not really lookin to hear the truth then you simply don't ask me. So I have no problem with what he said. Its a growing sentiment around the league. If seen several debates on First Take involving analysts and former players alike use words like, pampered, babied, and SOFT. I believe the players are also growing tired of his constant taunting on one end and over playing fouls and puppy dog looks to refs on the other end.

Remember the hip check he took going up for a dunk against Nola recently? Look for much more of the same for 2 reasons, 1.) He CANNOT make FT's, make him beat you there. 2.) Players are growing very tired of ESPN anchors practicing their new catch phrases at their expense.
