Just a reminder (football related)....

  • ....about this HORSE we have coming in at RB this Fall. THIS is what an SEC RB looks like. I hope his knee is okay and he can play this year, but if not I can't wait to see him in 2013.

  • I like that "sleeper hold" blocking technique on the rusher too...

  • I think the smart move for UK fans is to hope that this kid, Towles, and every other freshmen coming gets redshirted. I don't think we're looking at the type of season where playing freshmen will actually help us win games. Save them for whatever follows.

Generally I agree, but I think there is also a lot to be said for putting your best talent on the field and letting them learn and work through it, SO LONG AS it is not to the detriment of the team or there isn't an older player already there who is either as good or better at that stage. The fact that a guy is young is no reason to give him less reps or to not put them on the field if they are flat out better. Of course the older guys are typically going to have an edge on knowing the system, but that comes with time. I don't care how well a player knows the playbook or how much of a "leader" he is if he can't keep up with the opponents come game time in the SEC.

I'm all for redshirting everyone that you possibly can, so long as it doesn't mean you are putting your best talent on the shelf for a year while lesser guys play, just out of the principle of doing so. I think Taylor probably redshirts with his knee, but you never know.

  • I think this is the best year for them to not redshirt. We need guys to step up and fill some gaps.

  • The healing of injuries is very unpredictable as are freshmen. I personally have great confidence in the coaches as to making the right decisions as to who to use and who to give more time. To me it makes sense to keep guys you don't need until they are closer to their maximum potential than it is to use them and let them learn on the fly. I was hoping Clemmons could have waited until this year to play but injuries forced him in before he was really ready to perform at his very best. Same with Max. I expect them both to be real solid this year.

Looks like he is going to chokeslam somebody. lol.

I want the best kids possible on the field that are ready to play and don't miss their assignments.

I happen to agree with you. Joker needs some depth at OL, LB, CB & RB. And I look for the Wr's to get early PT.

  • I am a firm believe in putting your best players on the field whether they are true Freshmen or red shirted seniors.

Some Freshmen are physically capable of competing iin the SEC play those and redshirt those that are not. In this day of 85 SS limits no team is likely to redshirt all of their Freshmen that includes Alabama and LSU.

I would agree with you in principle, but I think there's going to be too much pressure on this staff to avoid playing a lot of these guys.
