Kentucky-Georgetown to meet in 2012-13?

  • Andy Katz reporting this morning that conversations with 'multiple sources' have said it's likely Kentucky will travel to Washington D.C. to face Georgetown in next season's Big East-SEC Challenge game. Interesting matchup, and one I have chit-chatted with several other UK reporters about during the postseason. Seemed like the type of game they'd like to set up.

  • Noel's recruitment and ultimate choice of UK certainly make the match up all the more intriguing.

Also a tough early match up for a young UK team as I'm pretty sure Georgetown will return the majority of their roster.

  • Very interesting. Would be a great matchup.

  • I'd really like this game, would feel really fresh to me.

  • If this comes to pass UK's non-conference slate would include: vs. Maryland (Brooklyn), vs. Duke (Atlanta), at Georgetown, at Louisville

  • I forget, does Georgetown play at a campus arena or do they always play at the same place as the Wizards? Or a little of both? Based on past scheduling of these games I would think it is almost 100% guaranteed to take place in the NBA arena.

    Man,

Imagine if we had UNC and Indiana...That's rough...

    That's a good line up.

  • Wow! That Big Ten vs ACC match up will provide at least 4 games that wii have top ten competition going at each other. UNC vs IU may head up the billing, but ESPN will get richer with those games. I just wish the SEC was strong enough to warrant some top games of the season as the BT vs ACC does. Perhaps with the addition of A&M and Missouri, we're headed that way?

That's one of the places I mentioned in the other thread about scheduling. DC area is loaded with talent. Good to have some presence there. Also, would give a kid like Troy Williams a chance to play another game close to friends and family if he chooses UK.

UNC/IU and a Duke/Ohio State rematch. Not bad.

  • Wonder why it wasn't paired as Duke-IU, UNC-Ohio State? Kinda weird to do the same matchup you had in last year's Challenge.

    Isn't Troy Williams 2013 & this G'Town game 2012?

Not sure. Think Duke-IU and UNC-IU have both already matched up.

Really feeling the UK/GTown matchup. Will be the first since '84 if I'm not mistaken.

Think they alternate years because the ACC Big 10 is home and home.
