Kentucky holds on to beat Vandy

With its season in dire jeopardy, Kentucky exploded out of the gate en route to a victory over Vanderbilt.

  • It seems as if Calipari's style is always hot out of the gate and finish up in a "2 minute defense" fashion. He lost the national title to Kansas like that with Memphis and it seems like the whole tournament last year we were "hanging on" after getting out to a huge lead. What is the reason for this, in your opinion, Darrell (or whoever wishes to render an opinion)?

Young players cant hold leads...they arent mature enough.

  • Man we looked great early. Maybe as good as we've looked all year even with Nerlens. The passing on offense and energy on Defense was terrific. I hope to see us improve on that and keep it up for longer next game.

  • No I am not busting a bubble but let us remember Vandy is Sophs and freshmen.

With no 5 star players on that team. We just could not stop there drives to the basket.

Wilt has to be the man down low every time we go down court then let him pass or shoot out of it.

Get guards on him and he can own them.

Stein wow he is getting better at the FT line. Alex is lost out there at times. If he could be himself at the Duke game UK could beat alot of teams.

This has been present his entire career, not just at UK. He's usually had veteran players on teams prior to coming to UK.

ok lets look at it this way...how many conference games or top 25 games have you seen teams play in college basketball and jump out to a 20 point lead and maintain that the whole game? It doesnt happen as often as a team losing a lead happens. You either are close until one team runs away with it towards the end or a team jumps out on someone gets over confident and the other team works to fight back to get it close.
