Kentucky will name starting QB this afternoon

Just received official word the quarterbacks will be available for interviews after today's practice, meaning a starter will be named. It is expected to be Maxwell Smith. Official word will come down in about 2 hours.

I think it would be a surprise if it was anything other than:
1. Max Smith
2. Morgan Newton
3a/b. Towles, Whitlow
Some variations are who is running the wildcat.....Newton or Whitlow?

I don't know that the order you've listed is accurate. I keep hearing Whitlow may be No. 2 right now because of his athleticism and ability to run the 'Wildcat' to give the offense a different look.

Can't answer that right now. You never know with Joker. If he does say something I'm guessing he'll say it's Newton even if it's Whitlow so he can keep the element of surprise.

Surprised Towles would be #4... That would mean a redshirt, I'd guess... At least that would put 2 years between him and Smith, so, he could at least start for a couple of yrs, barring Whitlow doesn't blow up, which he's certainly capable of doing...

No, left the team this Summer (July). Report was the he was staying at UK and joining the Bat Cats (baseball team).

I'm putting my money on "newton or whitlow or Towles" as the backup.
