From what I gather there were UK reps on Bama's Campus, but they were evidently there to check into some used training equipment at a facility they're renovating. Apparently, they weren't there because of Smart or the coaching search. Would have been shocked if that story had had any legs. 1) I don't think Mitch's search is beyond the phone calls and feelers stage and 2) if UK were going to meet with a candidate, I don't think it would be on their current employer's home turf.
I do hope Smart is contacted and would love it if we hired him, but I can't see him risking his budding career on a meat grinder program like Uk.

I don't believe that UK would send a delegation in UK gear to the Alabama football offices to talk to an Alabama assistant nor do I think Saban would allow it to take place like that. These contacts are done in private and usually through third parties. UK just opened a search and lots of good coaches are available. Making a public move like has been rumored here this early will alienate a lot of good prospects by making them see that Smart is the guy we want first. We can't afford to turn any good candidate off for any reason. I think this rumor is false. It is possible that UK spoke with Saban to get his advice in general but I don't feel we would do this in public.

Also, what happens if Dooley ends up 8-5? They have a real shot at that. UT has Vandy, UK, and an out of conference game left on their schedule. They could very easily win those three to get to 7-5 regular season and then head to Birmingham to play a Conference USA team. I'm not sure UT fires a coah with 8 wins and a $5 million buyout.
