  • Ha! Kyle Wiltjer fouls Archie Goodwin on a 3 with no time left. 3 FTs coming, down 89-86.

  • A long long way to go. Poythress looks overwhelmed by it all. Noel can't seem to dunk the basketball. We all know they'll improve but they have much much further to go than I expected. Harrow? I've never been sold on him and he seemed like the invisible man. I put all trust in Cal regarding PG's though so I expect he'll improve a lot.

Now to the good things. Cauley-Stein looks much better than his ranking suggests. Kyle Macy made a great point on this saying in high school he was a big football player too and that now he is concentrating fully on basketball for the first time. Hence better than advertised. As usual I think Macy nailed it. Goodwin hustling and slashing. I like it. Mays hitting bombs. We need Goodwin and Macy hitting the 3 and they appear up to the task. Wiltjer looks tougher and stronger and has kept the fluid faster than he seems agility on offense. Hood looked great and playing the point? Weird and also good. Could Hood be a legit backup PG? Of course he doesn't have the hops and athleticism of the usual Cal PG but he looked like he could handle the team at the point to me.

All in all I might be more excited about watching this team grow than any of Cal's UK teams. On paper this is the worst team he's had but it has a lot of potential and that's why I'm looking forward to watching them grow. If all the pieces come together like they usually do this team can contend for a ship but this team has the most work to get there than any other Cal UK team. That's why it's going to be fun to watch.

  • Don't know about Hood playing point don't see that happening period. Hood will play the 2,3, and maybe some 4 but no point. Hood also has over a 40 inch vertical so he does have hops he just hasn't had a lot of chances to show it off. This team will beat other teams the same as the past two UK teams have and that is on the defensive end of the floor. This team will block a ton of shots and should rebound at a high level as well and we will score in transition and probably thru Kyle and Archie with Noel getting his on offensive rebounds. We will struggle a little bit early on but come March we will be a tough out and probably make another run at the Final Four.
