***LIVE UPDATES/GAME THREAD: KENTUCKY at VANDERBILT***

  • WCS just gave him that 3, no defensive awareness.

  • How many offensive rebounds does Vandy have so far 35? Its so ridiculous how many times they have followed up with an offensive rebound. Its seems like they have had 40 or so. I know that cant be true but it sure seems like it. I just cant believe the way the Cats have folded against the Vandy zone and it surprised me they didnt start the game off in a zone of some kind. This will be a reoccuring theme this season with teams playing an aggressive zone and let KY beat them from the perimeter.

  • We deserve to lose this game

    Why so serious?

    morbidky84

  • Was that a make up call? That was off Vandy.

  • I'm getting in on this late so I apologize if someone else said this already. Julius Mays either needs to get his head out of his ass or whos ever ass its up or Cal needs to put him on the bench. He is absolutely awful right now.

  • how do we go from..

    1. DAMN THIS TEAM LOOKS GOOD

    to

    2. DAMN THIS TEAM SUCKS REALLY BAD

...at least getting road win will help the nerves for later games...but if we struggled this much with Vandy...we might be in for a rough ride...

  • And I agree, we did not deserve to win that game. We got a huge break on that shot Noel put in. He clearly did not get that off in time. Maybe Vandy can find a little money somewhere (I'm sure they are financially struggling) to put the shot clock on top of the basket and have the red light going around that backboard when the shot clock expires. That would have helped the refs there. I think they made enough money off Alabama winning the championship to spring for it.

  • Wow - this is simply a bad basketball team. It's disappointing to see so little progress since the season started, but these guys just are not very good at all. Very disappointing

AMEN!!!! If we play like this against the rest of the SEC, as bad as it may be, we may very well lose 5+ games in conference. If that happens will there be a NCAA tournament for us?

  • I don't think this kids are bad players, they just don't jive together like last year's team. I don't think Camp Cal got the results he have hoped for.

    Why so serious?

    morbidky84

  • a lot of this one is on Cal, too.

How can you let the team struggle so much against that zone for that long?
No one was flashing to the FT line...that's basketball 101 against a zone.

I dont understand how Vandy lost since they got 60 offensive rebounds(just joking about the number) but they must have gotten a ton of off. rebounds. The best player for KY tonight was Harrow by a mile even Bobby knight was building him up. No one else deserves an honorable mention. The rest of the SEC teams will play some kind of zone against the Cats if their coaches have any sense at all. This was a road win and that is a positive but the complete breakdown in the 2nd half was astounding but they did show they can win a close one even though they should have won by 20+.

problem is, admit it or not, and I am not implying you sleepydog, but if the refs got that shot clock call right it would have gone to overtime. If it had I do not believe UK would have pulled this one out. JMO

I agree, we would have lost. Vandy won the second half

  • Another point I made earlier, last year's team just meshed well with all of the talent. This year, these kids are just night and day different. All world talent but they just don't click, they need to buy into one another or they'll be coming off the bench for next year's team

  • The more I watch this team, they're talented no question, but sometimes I wonder how well they fit together with each other.

    Just kind of pieced together.

    Biiiig step back tonight.

  • As ugly and as bad as that win was, it cannot be understated how important it was nonetheless.

UK's RPI could not have recovered from such a bad loss. Huge, huge win as funny as it sounds.

You know Chris, as individuals they have as much talent as any other group in the country but as a collective they just arent very good. They are either going to get better then go to the NBA or we will have the deepest and most talented team ever with 5 fresmen starting and 4-5 sophs or in Wiltjers case a junior coming off the bench. But all kidding aside I dont know what Cal can do to reverse the course this team seems to be on.

Again, I think most of it aside from being so young is just their mentality/personality.

This team doesn't have enough dogs on it.

No I absolutely agree if it goes to OT then KY loses by 6-8 pts. They seemed to sputter all of the 2nd half and looked just like they did against Baylor. Im sitting here and watching Gonzaga and am actually feeling jealous of how good they look and how bad the Cats looked for the most part tonight.
