Larry Warford addresses recent Louisville trash talk on Twitter

  • Larry Warford was asked about all the trash talking Louisville's players have been doing on Twitter recently. Here was his take:

"It just goes back to the motivation we have," Warford said. "We have a desire to beat Louisville and it causes us to work so much harder in the offseason because we know that's what is coming up first this season. That's a big game for us and a big game for the state. It drives us every day. It's so important.

"I don't pay attention to it. Talk is cheap. You have to go out there and play. Anything can happen. They can talk all they want but we'll have to wait until game day to see. I mean that's what they want to do. We can't control it. All we can do is get ready for that game."

Louisville talks like they tarred and feathered us last year. Wasn't the case, and if Demarco doesn't fumble the ball backwards when he had the first down, we very well could have went on to win that game and all this chatter would be just that, useless chatter

  • Let them talk cause it will make it that much sweater when we upset them this year.

Was it Marco that fumbled on one of the first few drives or did King fumble there too?

King fumbled after being hit from behind and after getting a 1st Down. That drive could have made it 10-0 -- and it easily/should have been 14-0. Oh well.

Thats what I thought. Two fumbles that game killed us and we still could have won the game if not for a dropped pass. I have no idea why they are so confident and talking trash. I hope it comes back to bite them dead in the ass.

Robinson was the one who fumbled on the last drive inside the Louisville 20/25 after picking up a first down. Instead, ball went backwards and UK recovered but ended up with like 3rd or 4th and 9.

  • Bottom line is if we did not fumble and turn it over carelessly in many games last year, the outcome could have been different. That is one area that has to improve this year and that is taking care of the pigskin. If we don't, it will be an ugly year. It's elementry to protect the ball. It's something has to become a must do for us to have a chance.

like a poster said a few weeks ago when everyone laments the specialist scholarships being given, for UK to climb the ladder we have to approach this all Virginia Tech style: control the ball, protect the ball, and excel in every facet of the special teams game. Our last two punters are in the NFL now, and if not for a miserable return game last year, we may have had a different season in spite of the anemic offense.

Don't fumble, don't throw picks, and win on special teams--do all 3 of those and we may look at 8-4 instead of 4-8.

Good point. Va Teach is a great example of what we need to do. Obviously we'll be a little different but its the same kind of blueprint. It all starts with the big uglies and I feel like we're making progress up front on both sides of the ball. Outside of that we need to win the turnover margin more often than not which we've gotten better at I feel with Minters attacking style D. We've also got to win the special teams battle. No more years without a solid return man.
