I'm interested to see how he does. Warford killed it at the Senior bowl and significantly improved his draft status. With that said, a lot of NFL teams place a big premium on combine numbers. He could solidify his stock, raise it, or lower it with the combine. With what he showed at the Senior bowl it may be beneficial to not compete in the combine unless he is sure that he can make a good showing.

Former Kentucky OG Larry Warford just ran a 5.53 40-yard dash in first attempt at NFL Combine.

He was one of the slowest linemen (as far as 40 time) in the combine so far........but that doesn't mean much. The 10-yd split time for linemen is a better measure. So far Mayock, Davis, Billick, etc are giving Warford rave reviews.......even sometimes saying that he is the 2nd best guard in the draft. I wonder if he can sneak into the first rd?

Thanks for the response, I figured there had to be another speed/quickness measurement for linemen that was more relevant. Would love for him to go in the first round. Not only for him, but also to give the announcers a reason to talk about UK football on live draft coverage would be invaluable!

Also, it looks really bad when you take it in context. Warford is running in the same group as tackles, centers, and long snappers. Usually all 3 of these positions are faster. If you were to look at what guards usually run the 40 in....they are usually slower.

I was surprised by the 40 time. He always looked pretty fast for an Olinemen when he was running upfield leading the HB.

you should have stopped before you got to offensive linemen. 40 times are the most over rated thing in football. many players never play at the timed speed , and some play all out who may be .3 or .4 behind (which is ever so slight)................i would take the guy who makes plays and gets the job done any day over someone with all the tangibles

look what kendall wright ran last year something like a 4.6 and he was still a first rounder because on his film he consistently got past cb. The 40 is a tool not exact science.

Hey sometimes players can only perform on the field. Always thought he looked good at spring games and open practices though
