Yea, I knew you were right about him starting as a freshman. He did make a major impact. So I then decided to look up the details.....

Sixberry started all 11 games in 1999 as a true freshman, earning some post-season honors. Started 9 games the following season as a Soph. Sat out the following year as academically ineligible, eventually just leaving....said he wasn't sure if he even wanted to play football anymore. Had NFL talent.

Kip was from Littleton, Co. and played HS at Denver Mullen

Pyatt played at Arvada West.

The question was "who made an impact"? Just playing as a freshman only shows that you have "no depth" and is not a defination of an impact player.

That is an "impact" player.

I think Keenan Burton...but lately...has to be Randall Cobb right? Kid came in and played qb and held up well..had Ut beat untill Wide Left Lonas (Seiber) shanked a couple gimme game winning FG's.

He was a redshirt freshman.

To contribute immediately you have to be 1a Physically Mature and 1b Mentally Mature. To make an IMPACT you have to be exceptionally mature in both.

We hardly see freshman WR contribute much mainly beacuse of the intricacies of them needing to read the defensive coverage. So I doubt any of the true frosh contribute much there.

RB has been proven time and time again that if you're physically mature enough you can make waves. We have 2 beastly RB's coming in in Mobley and Taylor. Taylor was an ALABAMA recruit, that says volumes about his potential, Mobley has been singled out by Joker as the type of mauler that can carry the rock every down.

OL/DL are spots where we will see some of these freshman contribute but I don't think any will make large impats in the stat books, but they will be able to spell the starters that can make the impacts this year.

To find the kids that are going to make the biggest impact unexpectadly you need to look at the RS Freshman and True Sophmores.
Darrian Miller and Bud Dupree have already held their own, they will take another step in development and leadership.

Along with the other true freshman that played last year.

Demarco Robinson
Clemons

Then add in Colins, Cobbins, and Cunningham and you've got a crop of kids that have has a year to learn the system and mature.

Outside of RB the biggest impact will com from these RS Freshman IMO

Lorenzen was so much fun to watch as a freshman. Was a total gunslinger. A lot of ups and downs though. Still think that team would have been better served with Dusty Bonner starting and easing Lorenzen into things.

The over the head pass to Derek Homer was unreal! Was there for the game at home against Georgia where he passed for I believe 528 yards.

I just don't agree because a kid plays as a freshman he is an "impact" player. But to each his own.

I do know this. When UK can never play a freshman they will be better than they are now.
