It's not really recent news? SEC put that rule in sometine ago. Another stud Marketh Ambles has the same problem. I'm not sure why Butler was listed as a prospect for UK by any service?
Linebacker does not appear to be a big need for this staff. Like you. I though they would try to improve our depth there with a JUCO kid? The staff must have something big planned at LB. Maybe flip a FSU kid?? ( I can hope right). The LB's at FSU were tall and fast. I would expect to see Stoops bring in that type a kid here.

Good question. Josh Edwards would be the man to answer it. I will take a stab at it. Linebacker being a need area..IMHO..Uk has come up short in filling this need spot for 2013..but with this new staff..that could easily change. I think Quentin James..a 6'2 220ish ILB from Ga is a power running back as well..George Williams from Fla is a 5'11 225 ILB that can flat out hit you..not sure we can get back in on Jeremy Benjamin..the ultra athletic and stout 6'3 230lb from Hollywood Fla.
I have heard reports Stoops is recruiting Jermaine Grace..a speedy, undersized OLB, Matthew Thomas..a 5 star LB but dont see this kid coming.
Stoops and Vince Marrow are trying to flip Cardinal Mooney star LB Courtney Love...this would be a huge get for Stoops..but I think the odds are 70-30 against us with this kid.
Stoops has rooted out 1 fla LB in George Williams..could find another underrated Florida Lb with good speed.
That said..I think DJ ELiot has some talent to work with on the current roster. Bud Dupree, Williamson,Henderson,Thomas..I think Josh Forrest and Miles Simpson will fit better into a 4-3 wslb role than most think...they are both speedy, with good size and Stoops runs a lot of zone sets.
