Looks like Cal saw something in Mudiay early.

  • #1 ranked player in the new 2014 rankings

  • I haven't looked at anything past the '13 class.

I'm assuming we are in on this kid?

Is that rating per 247 because Scouts has Tyus Jones as #1 overall but like a lot of rankings it depends on which 1 you look at that is except for #1 in 2013 its Wiggins all the way at #1.

Cal is in with both Mudiay and T.Jones both PGs and both ranked #1 or #2 overall depending which recruiting service you look at.

  • kind of looks like Cal prefers Mudiay but is still talking to both, I do not see a year where Coach Cal does not have an elite pg

  • If I'm Cal right now, with Wiggins re-classifying, your main target needs to be Tyus Jones. It's VERY likely Tyus, Jahlil Okafor, and Theo Pinson can all be a package to either Duke, UNC, or UK. Get those 3, we have 3 5 star players already. If not, focus on Mudiay, Stanley Johnson, Dakari Johnson, Cliff Alexander, Tre Lyles, JaQuan Lyle, and possibly D'Angelo Russell. Cal has already made this group priorities, but with Wiggins re-classifying, one is soon to become THE priority.

You and Cal disagree completely on which PG he should be targeting.

I know we do, but Mudiay is ineligible for this year, and I personally like Tyus Jones more. It is what it is. But Tyus Jones SHOULD be the PG we should be targeting. Signing him just about guarantees the signing of 3 star 5 players as I said.

  • Lol like we havnt signed multiple 5 star players every year. I dont think it matters which one we chose cal will get his guys.

agreedI kind of agree about Jones over Mudiay and I think it could help some with KYs recruitment of Okafor and Pinson but with Mudiay probably sitting out this coming season and I havent heard if he is going to go to a Prep school out of state or not wont deter Cal from his recruitment of Mudiay but I still like Jones game better.

Seriously, you really think Cal needs help or will struggle signing multiple 5 star players? Come on. Cal will go for the pg that fits best for his defense and DDO. Cal likes bigger guards.

I wouldn't put too much weight in the "package deal" theory, it never seems to pan out. Plus Cal has never let me down with his picks.

I would agree of course that Cal needs no help with recruiting but I bet he hasnt ever turned his back on a possible though small bit of help in getting what he wants. Now Im not a big believer in the idea of the "package deal" but if he truly wants all 3 of those guys then I wouldnt bet against him doing it. Cal likes a challenge and to get all 3 of those recruits to commit at the same time and them being in the top ten to boot could be considered a good challenge and if it can be done then Cal can do it. • I think its a tad early on the 14 class but we are in good shape with a bunch of these kids. Cliff Alexander is a best guy's and can compete with any big in this class. I think Jones likes Duke and Mich. St. and recruiting the package deals doesn't seem to pan out unless its something like the Harrison's where they are brothers. It just seems that when these package deals comes up there are just a few schools recruiting them . Then when their class becomes the priority and other top schools start getting involved these young teenagers do what is best for them and most of the time the package thing goes out the window. I do love Jones however and would love to see him at UK but I don't want him just to get other players, I like our chances with Okafor and I think Cal will put the full court press on him short after he wraps up this 13 class. Heck if we were to go undefeated then Cal may say there is nothing else left to do and call it quits. This is what I fear more than anything because we are a spoilled fanbase and don't want to go through another Tubby Billy G experience and right now I just don't see another coach out there who I think could fill Cals shoes.

I agree that Alexander would be a great get for Cal and he is in with Cliff from what I have read. Like I said in my previous post I dont put much stock in the concept of the"package deal" either but if it gives Cal an in with the other recruits Cal is wanting I dont believe Cal would look the other way considering that they are top 10 kids also. I personally like T. Jones better than Mudiay but if Cal wants Mudiay then he will go after him like he has done so far but he still is looking at Jones also and if Okafor and Pinson would consider coming with Jones at the same time Im sure Cal wouldnt turn his back on them.(Okafor has offer already). Im not worried about Cal leaving if he achieves the perfect 40-0 season there are other goals that he would think of doing then would go out and try to achieve them. GO CATS
