Ul has too many weapons and vastly superior in experience. how does RPinto keep those NBA players at school? seems he is holding them back to me. however, if we click we can beat them now, and i hope we will beat them later.

    lol,

    is this sarcasm. Can;t tell.

    What NBA players?

  • Cards are going to win, hungrier and better. If they are hitting from long range we might get run out of the gym.

    74-61 Cards

Without Dieng in the lineup I was kind of wondering the same thing also about the NBA players they have although IMO someday Behannen may have a chance to go but not yet. .

You can take the man out of Kentucky, but can't take Kentucky out of the man. GO BIG BLUE!!!

IMO Russ Smith is the best pro prospect on the team.

    garciafor3

  • I must say Russ has surprised the hell out of me this year.

    Siva has no chance.

Dieng might be the best pro prospect from a draft standpoint. Maybe not this year but eventually. Either Dieng or Wayne Blackshear.

Behannen will play in the league but he's a 2nd rounder.

Louisville has some guys that will play in the league but no one that I could foresee putting up numbers. All guys that will struggle to make a team and will bounce around.

    tWhit

  • Wayne Blackshear has a chance to be a sixth man type in the pros. Dieng will probably be the same. I can see Russ Smith being a Jason Terry, Nick van Exel type. Not quite as good, but I can see him serving that role for a team.

Maybe if they work extremely hard. Pitino players more talented than them have bounced around and haven't done much.

I wouldn't say we should win. This is the 2nd ranked team in the country when their big man is healthy. I think he will be back Saturday too. Not in a starting role, but definitely getting some minutes which helps their cause. Our bigs have to stay out of foul trouble, but I think more importantly we just can not turn the ball over a whole lot. We aren't a great ball handling team and that is where I think we lose control of this game.

  • This UK team only averages 12 TOs per game. That's actually pretty good. So unless UL's pressure and the atmosphere get to this team I'm not too worried about TOs. I'm more worried about them taking bad, rushed shots. Me being honest UL should win this game, but the pressure is on them and Pitino to finally beat Cal. I like how that factor plays into UK's hands. If the Cats can play an efficient game on offense and continue marginal increases on D I like their chances.

  • Louisville 68
    Kentucky 60

That's not what I want to see happen, but I think that's where we're at right now, with the game being played in their house, and with Dieng possibly playing some minutes, which I suspected he would anyway. JMHO. Yours may differ.

We have done nothing this year to suggest we can beat Louisville. It will shock me if this game is within single digits at the end. We play with no fire and very little urgency. Pitino will press us all over the court and we will likely wilt under the pressure. I look for UK to have about 25 turnovers, roughly. UK down about 13 at the break and lose by 28 as it gets ugly. Prove me wrong Cats.

    UK - 60 UL - 88

I agree that Pitino will try to press. I disagree that we will wilt. When has one of Cal's teams ever wilted? Also, I believe Harrow can handle the pressure. He did pretty well at NC St. against UNC and others, as I recall.

This is one of those rare years when I will actually enjoy this game. Normally, I am a wreck during UofL week, just wishing we didn't play them! This year, UofL is favored and should be. They are #4 in the country and at home. If we play them close, even if we lose, we look good and they look bad. All the pressure is on them and their fans. Can you imagine the UofL fans if we would win this year? It makes me smile, just to think about it!

In the end, I think the game will be competitive, but UofL finally beats Cal -- Enjoy it now; it won't happen often! -- I'll say Uof L 72, UK 65.

  • Harrow turning it around is what this team really needed in order to rise above mediocracy, but I just can't see how anyone would objectively pick UK. Sure, we have a shot, but I expecting something ugly like UL 68 UK 58. I hope I'm wrong!

UL has the edge, there is no denying it. However, this UK team has more talent and if they play a complete game they are very capable of beating the Cards. Has this team shown it can play a complete game? No, but that's not to say they won't the next one. This is also a rivalry game and we all know anything can happen in those.

My pick was pure homerism, but I can see how someone could objectively pick the Cats.

  • We have the talent to win but after the game at ND and this being only the 2nd true road game gives me pause. The Cards will press the Cats and someone said earlier that this isnt a great ballhandling team although their TO rate is pretty good. Pitinos teams have always tried to score off of TOs and if the Cats have only 12 TOs then that will be a good sign but I expect them to have close to 20 or so and that wont be a good thing. Siva has a habit of folding in high profile games but he wont be facing the same defense he did last year and that is another thing that may be in ULs favor. The Cats only chance is if they play with energy for 40 minutes then they have a good chance to win but they havent done so this year yet and I will have to see it to believe it.

    sleepydog

  • Louisville is playing better defense right now than any Louisville team in my recent memory. Kentucky will have to match them on the defensive end to be in the game at the end.

That is entirely possible, but ...

  • Pitino announced that Dieng will play Sat. against the Cats. We all kind of figured it would turn out that way, and I am glad he is going to play so no excuses by the UL fans either way the game goes.
