MKG we love ya, However the NBA must wait.

  • DraftExpress updated the prospects list today. MKG at #11 now, far more realistic than previous lists.

  • They had him at #2 prior to today. That is a big drop. I'm starting to think he might be better served by coming back. He could be a top 5 pick next year.

Do you have a link, because all I can find is this one from last night at 7 pm, where MKG is still #2???

  • Saw it on Twitter. They must have crossed MKG and Jones up.

  • The mock 2013 draft is kind of interesting. . . Noel 1, Muhammad 2, Harrow 14, Teague 15

  • Will be really interesting to see what happens if Harrow and Teague are both here, but I'm hearing more and more that Teague will likely make the jump.

Y does Teague want to go so badly ?...if he can improve his 3 point shooting and shoot 40 percent from 3 he will be the best point guard in the country and he will be first point guard taken

Part of it is ego (like in the Daniel Orton situation) but this time it's also a matter of it being a really weak class at PG. For NBA teams seeking help at that spot, it's the best possible time for a guy to be in the draft.

I know that Cal got Wall and Bledsoe to play together, but this would be a completely different situation in my mind. . . They'd be splitting time, IMO. . . Also might factor in the Teague decision. . .

Any read on what Lamb is going to do? That could be a big factor as well.

Would be harder with these two because both are more typical point guards. With Bledsoe, you could always play him at off-guard. We know that's not really Teague's game. Not sure if Harrow can do that or not.

All season long, we've heard rumblings that Lamb might be the most eager to leave on the whole team. Not sure if that's changed or not, but I would expect him to be gone if he's in the first 20 or so picks.

  • I have a hard time seeing Lamb as a first round pick at this point. He has a great shot, but he's short and plays as a two guard. He's not all that quick, either, compared to NBA players. That Richard Hamilton mid-range jumper will be his bread and butter, I suppose. I guess I'm crazy, but I wouldn't spend my team's draft on him at this juncture.

  • Somebody help me please. It's VERY hard for me to take this mock draft serious when I don't see Royce White ANYWHERE in the 1st or 2nd round. You've got to be kidding me! Is there any doubt that he was clearly the best player UK has faced the ENTIRE year??

    ukaveman

  • White has kindof flown under the radar. Also, don't underestimate the effect of the anxiety disorder on his draft status. That can be truly debilitating for some folks, particularly if it is a flying issue like it apparently is with Royce. It's difficult to play in the NBA if you can't fly.

He's a mortal lock for Top 25, based on what an NBA insider recently told the UK staff. Guys who can shoot like Lamb does will always have a spot in the league. I envision him as a bit of a Tony Delk 'tweener who will play several years in the league, but those issues/challenges you mentioned may keep him from being a starter or a star.

  • We used to have a 6'10 guy that roamed the paint and attracted most of the attention allowing a player like MKG a lot of room. Now that 6'10 guy lives behind the 3 point line leaving Gilchrist alone on the blocks.

  • I doubt you can have a drop from 2 to 11 in one change.

Especially considering people already knew he couldn't shoot. It's the same weakness he had when he started at UK as he does now. I see no reason to drop any farther than 5th-7th.

That should open up drives for Gilchrist.

Why do you think NBA player looks like they don't play defense.

    couple things.
    1. They really don't play defense sometimes...
    2. Shooters are helluva a lot better and opens up the court a lot more. You saw 3 point shooting contest this year, it was all forwards basically and couple guards sprinkled in. The court is much more spread out.

So, davis being outside making those 18 ft 2 pointers on a consistent basis, which he does. He should pull a defender farther out.
