And I read all the time excuses made by some that UL gets the benefit of so many donations just because corporations are primarily located within the city of Louisville, and Lexington/the rest of the state does not have that many. Don't need a map to know that Loretto Ky is far from UL, and in the heart of the state with 99% UK fans.

Not sure I really want UK buildings with alcohol brands on them.

Would an SEC school be allowed to be sponsored by Makers, or any alcohol realted company?

I'm glad the bottle of Makers I have is almost empty. I'll have to be switching back to a steady diet of Woodford, and Wild Turkey rare breed.

It's an academic center for all louisville sports.

That is located in football stadium. Cats center was very nice a decade ago , but also all the way accross campus from the football facilities, unlike U of L which is next to the training facilities

I would submit that the center should be closer to where the athletes live as opposed to the stadium. Either way, uofl is catching up with this.

ukblueforever is correct. Makers has donated to other college campus' across the state as well. Muchadoaboutnothing here. Woodford Reserve also donated to the KFC Yum! Ctr I believe and there is a "woodford reserve room".

Matt Jones called UK's Jay Blanton yesterday live on his show who confirmed that uk could in fact accept donations from makers mark or other companies involved in alcohol production.

UK really needs to hit up the corporate sponsors around the state. Jurich must be doing some fuzzy math with his accounting practices or will this be another thing that the taxpayers get to pay for ultimately like the YUM center?

What is the value for Makers Mark to contribute to UK -- as a business? UK and the SECOND does not allow alcohol sales while the BE and UL does? How much MM product gets sold at Papa John's and YUM? This a business deal IMO and not just a gifting.

UK is not going to get this type of contribution IMO, because the business value to the business is not there. If the SEC changes their bylaws, then the story changes.

This is not a specific fund-raising 'issue' IMO.

Yep he is awesome. Had a chance to go to the Big12 but instead stayed in a conference that is dead.
Is he a great fundraiser? Yes. Is he a good leader? Maybe. But he has a few questionable decisions while there. And when it comes down to it. Which AD had the best overall performance on the field?

Incorrect. The facility costs $8million but Makers Mark is only donating $500,000 towards that cost but in all actuality, MM is just donating sales that come from the bottle with Charlie Strong on it so really their not digging much into their pockets at all. It's basically free advertising for them. Folks that might not normally buy a bottle of MM is going to do so with Strong being on it and those folks could become new consumers for the future.
