Smith has the respect of his team. But the numbers mean nothing against Kent State. UK should always beat Kent State by 30 fella's. Now if he does this against Florida with SEC talent then he is on his way.

He has to get by Western first which will be a better test than KS.

I'm getting tired of your constant negativity about UK in general. UF beat BGSU 27-14 at home, Ark loses to ULM at home, Vandy loses to NW who struggled with the Cuse, Ole miss beat UTEP 28-10 at home, Uga beat Buffalo 45-23. Beating a MAC school by 33 is MUCH better than these games, which is what the SEC HAS done, not what you THINK they do. The SEC, outside of LSU, Bama, and MAYBE UGA are DOWN. Get use to it. and be negative to the AD and BoT if you want, but support the poor souls on the FB team that are consinently "outgunned" by other SEC teams. LET'S GO UK

Pretty clear now that Max has made all the difference. If Newton was still our qb we'd still be having major problems. Max could go down as one of the best to ever play QB at UK which is really exciting.

^^^THIS^^^ Thank you. nice to see someone here isnt a debbie downer. Im sick of peeps downplaying a blowout win following a loss to a in-state rival. The defense was much improved. And Max Smith could be the best field general since Couch. Smith is tough, smart, accurate, and gets the ball out so fast its hard to get a good rush on him. You can see the opponets d-line get tired as Smith keeps ripping up the blitzes and pressures with check down passes..this frustrates a defense. As long as the Cats dont have turnovers..we can score enough points to keep us in most games.

Plus computer rating had UK only as a 10 pt favorite and Vegas by 7. (or thereabouts)

  • Bingo trueUKgamer. He can have no intelligent response to this other than "You are right, and I was wrong". Anything else is further verification that nothing will be good enough.

    Pretty impressive.
As bad as it pains me to say it UL's defense looked to be SEC caliber, and Max still performed well. So, needless to say kind of excitied to see this young man grow.

I disagree. UofLs DLine was getting gashed against us. I dont like their overall speed either. Their Back half is pretty good, but in no way shape or form does their defense look nearly as athletic as ANY SEC defense I have seen, except ours of course.

That said, Max looks like a better and cooler
Hartline. That's pretty good considering it took 25 starts for Mike to put it together, as opposed to Maxs 4.

The receiver, Sweat in particular look like they can be a force by year's end.

  • There is no way you can't help but be impressed w/Max Smith's performance thus far. He has shown good pocket presence, distributed the ball to multiple receivers, and has made several big time throws (td's to Boyd and McCaskill were beautiful throw's and catch). Yes, it remains to be seen if this holds up as the competition gets stiffer BUT the offense gives me much more reason for optimism than it did through two games last year!

  • Max is special. If he remains healthy he'll go down as a great at UK.

  • Love what Max is bringing to our offense. He is putting the ball where only our guys can catch it, for the most part. I'd really like to see him hit on a long throw or 2, just to make the Ds think about it more. His intermediate passes vs Kent were really good and as stated above ALL of our WRs are catching it. There have been a lot of catches made already this yr that I don't think would have been made last yr. We need to give Coach Washington some love, I believe.
