Maxwell Smith

  • This is old and might have been posted before, but Maxwell Smith was ranked 10th out of the SEC's QB's.

Ranking the SEC quarterbacks - SEC Blog - ESPN

Earlier, we ranked all 14 quarterback groups in the SEC. Now, it's time to rank the top 10 SEC quarterbacks heading into the 2012 season. Again, we a

  • Ranks Smith #10 QB and our position group as #12. Our backup is a Sr. with a ton of game experience and decent SEC Road wins. (This isn't a Newton endorsement, but it's a better than a green behind the ears freshmen being your backup)

I can't understand supposedly having a top 10 QB and #12 Position group with a SR Backup QB.

Makes no sense. Let's just hope Smith stays upright and Newton can bring a change of pace.

good point. These "position rankings" are a borderline joke.

  • i know they are comical really. I guess if you have two decent QB's that are polar oppsites, good thrower and good runner, the groups would be better than one better QB. idk, not only that but a 2nd team ALL SEC WR isn't among the top 10? Warford was like 7th or 8th in the OL rankings, with a lot of impressive guys ahead and behind him. I just needed something positive posted. I'm not a sunshine pumper, but i was etting depressed with all the negative stuff. If we need change, it will come, if it doesn't we should be happy.

  • It doesnt matter. He and Newton where ranked for what they did the previous year which was pretty bad. But that doesn't mean spit for how they may play this year. Where was Harline ranked prior to his SR and look what a great season he had. Preseason rankings are a complete waste of time to me but give people something to talk about. I would be surprised if Max didn't play pretty well as long as he can stay healthy.

Pretty sure Hartline was pre-season 2nd or 3rd team SEC. Of course that's because the SEC was breaking in a lot of new QBs that year.
