Meltdown in Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - So much for turning the corner. Kentucky went more than 11 minutes without a field goal in the second half, blowing a nine-point halftime lead at Alabama.

  • This team will be in the NIT...no way they can pull off enough W's to gain NCAA bid. As fans, we must accept that the "one and done" system sometimes yields poor results, due to inexperience and overrated players...Maybe next year the Cats can make the NCAA tourney again.

  • In my expert analysis, we had 547 missed layups (mostly Archie and Harrow), 129 missed free throws (by everyone, is this the worst free throw shooting team in our history?), 365 drives to the basket by Mays (he is a good spot up shooter and that's all he should do), 57 bad calls by the refs (I know that is never a good reason but c'mon!), and about 97 bad passes (mostly Archie who, if truth be told, did not have a good game). Other than that, Nerlens was superb, Kyle was excellent given his limitations, and Hood was charged up.

  • This was another "bad" loss for this UK team. No need to sugar coat it. UK has to win the SEC tourney to get in the NCAA tourney b/c I do not see enough quality wins in the rest of the schedule to garner a bid otherwise. This team took a step forward then 2 steps back. We see improvement and then they lay an egg. Tonight's game was as bad as I have seen all year.

Also, I am tired of people (not really on this site) calling out others' fandom when they criticize the coaches and team. I agree that you do not bash 18-21 yr old kids but it is ok to voice your opinion. Just because you question the talent level, knowledge, and coaching strategy does not make you less of a fan. It is called criticism and if you only think the kids and coaches ish roses and rainbows then that is being unrealistic. At some point you have to call it like it is and move on from there. JMO

Even if you call out a player in a constructive manner that shouldn't matter. I agree with your point though.

I've seen KY have a number of bad years prior to the one and dones. It's silly to keep blaming one and done every time we lose a game. In college you see turnover. Every once in a while, at every school, you have one of those years.
