**Mistakes doom Kentucky in defeat**

Kentucky turned the football over four times against Western Kentucky, in the process losing to a program that wasn't even a full-time FBS program until the 2009 season.

  • Sadly, pure coaching staff. I've had Jokers' back since the beginning but it's time to go. This is Joker's staff from top to bottom now. Haven't seen the results offensively or defensively. The sophomores and freshman on this team need a coach that will breed them into a physical team regardless of opponent. Fans need a coach to believe in.

  • UK didn't call a great offensive game last night. Throwing deep repeatedly into a cover 2 that knew you would rely on the pass is not that bright. Also for all the feel good going around about Boyd he is another possession receiver and with him and King on the field you have almost no yards after the catch ability. Sweat is a great talent and yet we are relying on McCaskill, King, Boy, Robinson and Fields, a group that has been no better than occasionally adequate. Western could cover those guys one on one all night and King had a couple of important drops. Every time Sweat gets his hands on the ball something good happens but what does he have 3 passes targeted, 2 catches, and TD's? The running game was not that bad but we failed to use it enough. Finally, we just turned in our 17th consecutive game without a first quarter TD and looked flat in a home game we absolutely needed to win.

I agree..... It's so sad that this Coaching Staff is this easy to figure out. Multiple times this week, you heard the coaches, players talk about stretching the field vertically. We'll sure to their word, that's what they did even with 2 deep zone coverage.

For the life of me, I can't believe we didn't line up and play power football agains a team like WKU.

I hate if for Joker, I really do. I hoped this experiment worked.......Losing to WKU can not be accepted by the Department and fan base. Just can't be.

  • I saw 8 men in the box for WKU most of the night. That makes it tough to play power football but it should have exposed other options?

  • The WKU defense was pressing the line of scrimmage and dropping 2 safeties deep all night long. The intermediate and short passing game over the middle was WIDE open all night. We should have dialed up more RB screens and plays to the TEs, but apparently we still don't have a great one to get open yet. Smith didn't check down to the short stuff as often as he should have last night.
