Mitch just does not get it

  • What fun is a coaching search if no info is going to come out. We need to ve staring at doors and crashing servers. Those were good times. We all laughed. We still make jokes today about it today. So come on Mitch make this fun for us.

  • The fun will come when the team starts winning. Patience young grasshopper. lol

    Keepin in fresh since 1986.

  • He apparently had time to gather the team together in the locker room and tell them their lack of effort on the field this season was a big reason he had to fire his buddy. Routine AD behavior I would presume.

As badly as I think MB should be replaced, I found it hard to believe that he said that to the team but I am sure minter was there so it must be true.

I think I'd consider the source of that report before putting much stock in it, especially given the last few months of stories.

Source or not, I'm not sure what MB said was false - if he said these things. Sometimes the truth hurts....and also, sometimes the young men playing football don't need to be coddled - they need a swift reality check.

Either way, many of our fans and the hatred toward MB - no matter what the guy does - is a pretty tiresome routine in my opinion. If he speaks people complain/moan/groan; if he remains silent, people complain/moan/groan.

It's time some of our fans just chill it, take a deep breath, and cut some slack - some are taking this coaching search and everything else MB does, way too personally. He's our AD, and will be for some time. Deal with it. Get over it.

Larry quoted a player's parent. Why shouldn't we trust that?

    MinterWonderlnd

  • Either Larry should not have gone with story or the parent should of allowed their name to be used.

I can't even begin to fathom how you don't understand why people would maybe just look on that with a tad bit of incredulity.

Even if it were true at least he didn't tell the players they were going to bring in a coach who could get better ones than them. That would have been awkward.

Well as of lately MB has said some pretty rash things. Microwave fans, "real" fans, those who want Joker gone have another agenda, and the whole letting Joker go via a letter. Let's be honest, MB actions/words during the process has not been smooth or even professional and everyone can see that.

I think it is a real possibility that because of MB, that some coaches will not come here to coach. That's not known for as fact but it could be reality . frustrated

I'm old enough to remember when C.M. Newton basically told the entire fanbase to go "F" themselves in every major paper in the Commonwealth.

The football field is named after him.

I recall, was not basically, he told the fanbase if you don't like it (Curry as coach) find another team to root for.....
He stood by Curry and the University, football and fans suffered.
His name on the field is a joke.

    Go Cats!
    cheers

  • It was a joke. With no info coming out about who the next coach was going to be. Refering to when the fans crashed a server when Cal was hired watching a door for hours on end.

I think most football fans wonder why Newton's name is on something football instead of basketball, and I would agree. The basketball program should have something to honor him with.

C.M. Newton made some of the dumbest hires in every sport but Basketball .He got lucky on that one. I don't think you realize how close to "Head Coach Kyle Macy" we came. Go ask Kyle about it because I have. He was basically calling Macy up and telling him everybody else had turned him down and he was waiting on "one last guy" and if it didn't work out he was going to coach the team himself and groom Kyle for the job.

Secondly, in every other sport he was a disaster. Literally, a disaster. I still remember when he told the fanbase to basically "F" off if they didn't like Bill Curry and then he fired him and hired a trainwreck who landed the program on NCAA probation.

Thirdly, he let facilities degrade so badly that UK ended up with a track facility that was condemned as a health and safety hazard and was 25 years past it's service life.

Fourthly, one days someone is going to write a book and actually do some digging on UK Finances and what was going on around that time. UK Athletics were feudalistic in terms of everything you could possibly imagine and Newton and his buddy Ivy basically ran the Athletic Department as their personal fiefdom.

C.M. Newton was the epitome of everything that was wrong with UK Athletics. Yeah he "cleaned" up Basketball but he had no choice and was still part of the same culture of graft and backroom deals that created that atmosphere. For all that he got the football field named after him and a nice house in the Bahamas.

Wow. A lot of unsubstantiated crap in this one. There's been a million times I would have loved to see a coach tell the annoying UK fanbase to "F" off. I see that as a good thing. At the time Curry was a great hire. I agree Curry stayed longer than he should have but Newton stuck by his guy. Plus Newton was realistic about UK football. Your Macy thing is just hogwash and irrelevant. You're bashing the guy for things he didn't even do. That's ridiculous. I don't know anything about the track and field thing and I'm not going to bother looking it up. You know why? Because I don't give a crap about track and field and neither does anyone else. 2 bball National Championships. The End.
