Mobley to make return trip to UK

Could the long-awaited scholarship offer be coming for a running back who's been on UK's board for several months now?

  • Time to offer this kid! He wants to be a Cat, and it's easy to see. I hope Coach Phillips offers him this weekend and we can get his verbal. I like his attitude and I believe his upside is very good. I expect he is the type of talent that could change a game once Rock has a summer/fall with him. The Cats have a lot of talent on their radar and the future looks bright. GO BIG BLUE!

  • I'm going to try and check Mobley out again if/when Powell makes it to round 3 against a pretty tough Columbia team.

  • Can't see UK not offering Mobley at this stage of the game if they are indeed planning on taking two backs.

  • I'd say he is offered and committed before he leaves this weekend.

  • Heard on sports talk in Knoxville his best 40 time was a 4.78 which is not fast enough for an SEC back hence no offers from conference schools. TIFWIW

  • There has to be more to this whole situation and maybe speed is the issue. On the other hand if he is quick and can get 5 tough yards a pop with power that is enough. We don't see a lot of our RB's getting lose for a 35 yard scamper very often.

Wow, if that is true. He looks faster than that in the videos, but its always hard to tell from highlight clips. Also, a lot of guys simply play a lot faster in the games and aren't really pure "speed guys" in timed 40's. You also see a lot of guys who can run like hell when in under armour gear and track shoes, but then look like they're running in mud when they strap on the pads and get in a game with defenders trying to kill them. Regardless, 4.78 is sloooooooooooow for an SEC RB unless they are a true bruiser type in the 230+ range.

I would have guessed between 4.5 & 4.6......not a burner by any means, but hits the hole quick and decisive. Better top end spedd than I thought too. The secondary from Oak Ridge couldn't run him down, and they were fairly athletic looking.

  • There were some disciplinary issues that Mobley dealt with last year that, IMO, may have hindered any attention he could've gotten over the summer. As a result, major programs moved on with their other targets and may not have made it back to him. JMO.

  • Good for Dy'shawn. Had the pleasure of meeting him and his family last spring and found them to be nice folks. Solid player.

  • Why are we not recruiting similar skill sets as we did back around 04 to 07? We out-speeded even some SEC deff's and I think that is the major reason we were good... I really think Joker should try to get close to the same types of kids every year. Speed is what allowed us to defeat bigger, better teams...

Speed is the one thing we have recruited BETTER since that timeframe. In fact, I think we have sacrificed talent and skill sets for speed in a lot of situations. We were beating bigger opponents in the 2006 to 2009 range b/c we had guys like Woodson, Burton, Stevie, Little, Tamme, Lyons, Woodyard, Jarmon, Kelley, Lindley, Peters, Cobb, Locke, and so on. They were tremendous football players, but not really "speed guys" except for Locke. We are now faster at most every position in terms of pure speed.
