Morgan Newton calling guys out.

  • I hope Morgan is better. Then he can call them out but not on twitter.

  • who exactly did he throw under the bus? no names mentioned. the guilty know who they are, the public does not.

True. But, Hartline didn't mention names either and it didn't do him any favors. I'm not saying he doesn't need to call guys out, but using Twitter to do so may not be the best option.

  • We as fans can't have it both ways. We want a team that can compete for an SEC title, but we demand it be done by nice guys that do it "the right way."

Well the truth is nice guys finish last. And what Morgan has done here isn't even not nice. It's motivation without specifically calling people out. Is the starting QB not allowed to let some know that they aren't working hard enough? He then acknowledged a slight improvement afterward.

This isn't Sunday school folks, it's division 1 football. Leave the coddling to your own kids, not 18+ year old men.

  • Maybe Morgan could use the time to practice running without tripping over his own feet.

    He makes Jared look nimble.

    I couldn't agree more .

  • If coaches and assistants such as Rock Oliver cant advise student athletes what they should do to beef up, what good are they?
Rock Oliver is a trainer that is what he does. If he cant advise these players, that is flat not right.
Not saying your wrong guns, just saying it is wrong.

I'm sure Rock can advise them what to do in the off-season. Woodson and Holt I believe can actually work with them over the summer. But it's a NCAA violation for any of the actual coaches to work with them or to make them workout outside of the set times when all programs can do so.

That's why they are called voluntary off season workouts, if coaches could make them do it it wouldn't be voluntary.

  • Trainers have to been around any kind of voluntary or involuntary workouts for safety reasons.

  • Newton didn't mention any names, so I don't see it as throwing teammates under the bus. It is too bad he has to say anything to anybody. Winning teams have players who are willing to do the unpleasant things that is takes to get better.

  • Cobb made a comment last year and I don't remember anyone making a deal out of it. Newton never mentioned a position group or player by name. It could have been he was trying to get a 7 on 7 up and couldn't find enough people. Who knows. People will find a reason to criticize someone they are not fond of.

i should know, right? I'm the poster child for that..Right?

  • I don't dislike Newton. I do not like college athletes' use of Twitter.

  • I'm not a huge Newton fan, but I think he is off to a good start if he is busting a few balls. Leadership starts with the QB. Now he is going to have to back his part up, because as they say, talk is cheap.

  • My problem with the tweet is the "Oh Well" at the end.

If he's going to call someone out don't do it with a "Ho Hum, shucks darn attitude".

Let it rip Morgan and stand strong!!

  • Newton didn't name names, therefore he didn't embarrass an individual. His remarks could apply to anyone and those that this applies to likely know who they are.
I say Bravo, Morgan. Take ownership of this team, but just make sure that you lead by example by outworking everyone out there. Pull the receivers together that want to win the most and hit them in the hands.
