NBA Finals: Who ya got?

  • NBA Finals get underway tonight. Who ya got?

I'm going with the Thunder in 6. Think they're a better overall team and having homecourt for them is huge.

  • I actually want to see LeBron and the Heat win...partially because I think he is a great player that gets slighted because he doesn't have a ring...and partially because I'm just tired of hearing about it.

But I'm with you Chris, Thunder are more well rounded. Westbrook will be a difference maker. I think if necessary, he could give Wade fits...and offensively LeBron is really the only guy that could keep him out of the lane.

Bosh will be really important for the Heat. They are gonna need him to keep guys like Perkins and Ibaka out of the lane.

do you think the 2-3-2 sets it up better for Miami though? If they win one of the first two, that could be huge.

I want to see OKC and Durant win.. but my heads telling me Miami in 5. I just see Wade and Lebron living at the foul line in this one.

I've always thought the 2-3-2 format is such a disadvantage for the team with homecourt and have never understood why they use that format only in the finals.

Thunder are much deeper and the Heat don't have anyone that can slow down Westbrook. Plus OKC has a huge advantage inside IMO. The Heat beat up the Celtics on the glass. They won't be able to do the same with the Thunder with Ibaka and Perkins down low.

I echo that. Westbrook could get off in this series.....and if the Heat don't keep the OKC bigs out of the lane, it'll be a block party.

I do think that no one can match up with LBJ for the Thunder...so if he can be a facilitator and really draw a crowd, Battier and Chalmers and Miller could get some clean looks. But my gut tells me..

    OKC Stars>Heat role players

  • I want the Thunder in 6. Durant, Westbrook and Harden are all great young players. I honestly don't like the Heat, and don't think they're the better team.

    Keep Calm & Stoops On..

  • I'm gonna go with the Heat. I just think the experience from last years finals and knowing the pain from losing those finals pushes them over the top.

    jeffries123

  • Well since I correctly picked the finals....pat on back. I'm going with the Thunder. Everyone should really listen to what I say. LOL.

  • My prediction may be a bit backwards in thinking.
Eventho OKC has home court, I believe the longer he series goes the more it favors Miami. The Thunder can easily win in 5 games imo, but if it goes 7 then I think Miami takes it. I know I know...OKC is crazy good at home, I live in OKC and have seen first hand (went to game 1 against Dallas) they absolutely have The BEST fans in the NBA. BUT..this is a different LeBron James in these playoffs. The longer the Heat stick around the are I think he could take the series over. This is the first time in maybe ever that I can remember being ok with either team winning.

What's great is that BOTH teams provide matchup problems is exploited. I am really hoping this series lives uo to the hype. We have the two best players in the league going head to head...hasn't happened in a long time. We have the best two duos in the NBA going head to head...also been a while.

This could become the Lakers/Celtics of the 80's.

I'm sorta expecting Lebron to be dominant. I think this series will be won with OKC's depth and bigs. Lebron and KD probably wash each other out, D Wade and Westbrook sorta wash each other out, Harden and Bosh might even wash each other out. IF that happens OKC will win. They're much better 4-8 than the Heat IMO.

I think there is one and only one matchup problem Miami has no answer for...James Hardin. KD will score, gas what he does but James will imo guard him as well as anyone can. On offense, James is just too strong. Especially if he posts KD up. Wade & RW are a wash but only if RW continues to play out of his mind. He's averaging only 2 TOs a game. Will he resort back to the RW who turns it over and takes too many shots away from KD? For the sake of the series I hope not.

Back to Hardin, if he continues to play his natural position he's still going to be effective because Battier will do a somewhat decent job, HOWEVER, if they have him bring the ball up and allow RW to play off he ball and come off screens then Miami has to completely change their defensive strategy as there's no way Battier can guard him at the "point foward" position imo. That adjustment could cause complete havoc on Miami.

  • I'm going with the Thunder in a sweep... just wishful thinking. I doubt it happens... I just want Labron and the NBA to be over already.

  • Think this may be the most anticipated Finals in years. You have several of the NBA's youngest and brightest stars in the league. Should be a lot of fun.

Hate the NBA all you want but over the last several years the NBA playoffs have been as good if not better than any post season in sports imo.

  • I'll be honest. I can't stand the Heat. I can't stand Lebron and even more so, I can't stand Dwyane Wade.

That being said, there are plenty of Lebron haters out there. Unlike most of them, just because I don't like him doesn't mean that I don't think he's not an all-time great player and special talent. Just like people love to love Tim Tebow, they love to hate Lebron but the guy is unreal.

He's definitely made some mistakes and has come off as very unlikeable at times but that has no bearing on his talent.

Just not a big fan of myself.

Don't like Lebron either but you're right when he's playing well he's absolutely unstoppable. Probably the greatest physical specimen that the games ever seen.

I can see it both ways. I don't think it really matters in the big scheme of things. Ultimately, both clubs are trying to steal one game on the other team's floor.

What I don't like is that 2-2-1-1-1 during the other rounds where they travel all over the place and stretch out the series over two weeks.

Just think the road team can get into more of a groove with 3 consecutive home games.

Not a huge advantage in the 2-3-2 format but an advantage nonetheless IMO.
