Nerlens Noel out for season

oh and btw the way don't have Dr. Andrews do the surgery. what he did to RGIII should be looked at as malpractice.

Please provide your insight to Dr. Andrews. World renounced orthopedic surgeon and you claim malpractice.

Also, please deal in facts and not opinions.

I personally have Dr. Andrews and Dr. Lyle Cain to thanks for my ability to function. It was those two who was tasked with surgically repairing a knee that was devastated by a Dr. here in Tuscaloosa. NN would be very lucky to have Dr. Andrews as his surgeon to repair his ACL.

  • Yea the media is trying to use this as a reason to do away with the one and done thing. The problem is there is noway to tell if Noel was in the pro's it wouldn't have happened there. The one and done rule helps GM's keep their jobs and aging vets to play a few extra years. The one's that act like this rule is bad are the teams and coaches that don't get these players. I would love to see a two year rule but fact is the NBA doesn't want high school kids they want guy's that can prove that they can play with and against men. Yes some kids like Davis, MKG, Wiggins, Randle, the twins can go ride the bench in the NBA for a few years but how does that help the game? Say what you want to about the one and done rule but it was a pleasure to watch Wall, Knight, Bledsoe who wasn't one and done, Cousins who probably goes late first round without the one year at UK it was a pleasure seeing AD, MKG, and company. I for one can't wait for next year but this year ain't over yet lets just hope our boy's can go onto the NCAA and make some noise and if not next year will be a special year again..

Here is the best reason why there should be a 2 yr rule. Look at Archie and Alex at UK. Both would have been top 10 picks out of highschool. Not one GM would take them that high right now.

You cant a job that requires a degree. Why would you think you have the right to make the NBA change there rules that does not help them see how good a player is.

first i am glad that Dr. Andrews was able to fix your knee and you have had a successful recovery. as a person who has torn my ACL myself i know what that the road is lengthy and very difficult at times.

my beef with Dr. Andrews in the case of RGIII, i stated earlier in the thread. main point is that he used patella tendon from the knee RGIII had surgically repaired at Baylor to provide the graft for the knee he just injured.

to me that makes very little sense. given the multiple methods of ACL repair and multiple graft sources available, to recompromise a knee that has made a healthy and complete recovery from a previous reconstruction surgery is risky to say the least. in my eyes RGIII is healing from surgery on both knees when only a single knee was damaged.

second Dr. Andrews was on the sideline that night in a Redskins hat. he was seeing what everybody else was seeing. he was talking to RGIII and Shanahan. if i could see that at the end of the 1st quarter RGIII worsened an already existing injury and continuing to play could lead to a far more significant injury why could Dr. Andrews not see it.

i don't care what RGIII told him, his job is to take the emotion out of it and look out for what is best both for the player and the franchise. when Andrews followed RGIII back into the locker room, they were not even in there long enough for Andrews to remove RGIII's brace, shoe, sock and roll up his pants to do a proper and thorough evaluation of the stability of his knee. t

that evaluation needed to be done to see if that fall in the 1st quarter had compromised his knee further. if the evaluation was done, no way RGIII retakes the field and at worst he is rehabbing a repaired LCL (a much smaller deal than an ACL). like i said it was clear to anybody watching that the fall in the 1st quarter worsened his injury and it continued to get worse as the game went along until it ultimately gave way.

Andrews was right there and should have prevented it, that was his job and he gets paid to do it. it just makes me question his professional judgement.

again glad your surgery and recovery has worked out.

He'll still be a lottery pick, probably top 10 and maybe top 5-6. It's all based on potential anyway and he can recover from an ACL and still possibly play half an NBA schedule next year. At worst, they get him back for 2014-15. I can't imagine he'll come back with the risks associated. He could re-injure it, play poorly, any number of things that hurt his stock even more. Plus, if he goes now he can go ahead and get his clock started toward a second contract, which is where guys make their money anyway.

The bigger question is how this development affects Willie Cauley-Stein. He was considered a borderline lottery pick based on potential alone and now with the lion's share of playing time he could either work himself higher than that or perhaps show enough flaws that he comes back for one more season.

Chad Ford has him 3rd in the draft post injury.

  • Good stuff from Jeff Goodman on Noel after talking to his brother, who said he'd be really surprised is Nerlens returned to school. Also revealed he tore some meniscus in the knee and that he mother had left for a trip to Haiti on Tuesday and to his knowledge wasn't aware of the injury yet.

  • Unfortunate on the meniscus tear, was hoping just for a straight ACL.

Wishing you all the best Nerlens.

I both agree and disagree with Goodmans assessment of the state of this team minus Nerlens. I agree that Poythress hasnt lived up to expectations so far this year but Harrow had shown some good progress since the semester break until he has disappeared these past couple of games. Goodwin is the other player that hasnt been the player that most thought he would be. This team could pull together and make a run at a tourney birth but the 3 players I mentioned must come forth and join the rest of their teammates in actually playing as a team. Good luck Nerlens and WCS get in there and kick some butt.

  • this draft is so thin, Archie, Alex and Cauley will be draft picks the question is will they be first rd picks.
If not 1st rd you come back.

Noel coming back to me is 50/50. Depends on the rehab and his want to play for NC at UK.
