New Q&A with Joker

  • Not much new but I like his answer to the hot seat. Everyone knows the situation, but why dwell on it.

    Phillips: No, no. I know this might sound crazy, but I was looking at Oprah — my wife had taped an Oprah show with (rapper) 50 Cent. I like to listen to those types of interviews. And 50 Cent said you either worry or pray, but you don’t do both. And I don’t worry. I don’t worry.

    The thing I’ve got to do is prepare myself mentally and prepare this football team mentally for the long haul. I know what we got into when we signed up for this. This is big-boy football, and we’ve had success in big-boy football, and we’ll continue to have success in big-boy football.

    I hope you're right. I also think the people surrounding him have helped with that. He seems much more comfortable with this staff.

    I really root for Joker. I'd love to see him get some respect with a good solid year this year. We're very young so it doesn't have to be a 7 or 8 win season. 6-6 would be awesome with such a young team and brutal schedule. Just hope we can stay healthy and that Joker can keep this team focused. Regardless I'm gonna have a lot of fun watching. Love to see young players and new coaches come into their own.

  • 5 wins, good recruiting, and 'hope for the future" would or should keep Joker for 2 more years. But everyone has to remember, every year is a brutal schedule the SEC so that is a given. If in 2-3 years Joker and UK can win more SEC games than they lose that seperates the men from the boys in my book. No coach has done that in quite some time.

    To get to 5 wins IMHO Joker really needs to beat Louisville and Missouri, one of the Mississippi schools and Vandy. I know that would be 7 wins but lets beat Louisville.

    One game at a time. I think Barnhart sticks if Joker wins 5 and the team plays inspired football, no major mistakes and of course, no bone head coaching move that would cost a game. Just coach the players and let them play and beat Louisville

  • I agree with a lot of that statement Hot. For me to have that comfort level I have for good coaches I want to see him be prepared and no crazy moves that get thrown back in his face. As crazy as it sounds Joker has to look "comfortable" to gain some trust by the fan base. Of course wins = happy but he needs to show he isnt over his head. IMO I think he does that this year.

  • I'd lie to see us come in game in and game out with the passion that we played against Tennessee. Seemed to me like the guys were not fired up as much throughout the season. James Franklin does such a good job of that. I like tue recruit classes Joker is putting together and hope we give him time.

  • I was being sarcastic from the insert in the post. Some people just take everything serious. We won't have to worry about it after this year one way or another we'll have our answer on joker.
