New uniforms

  • Seems a recruit has confirmed our suspicion about new uniforms, up to 28 different combinations. Jeff or chris, do you think UK will release renderings or will we have to wait until sept 1?? TIA

  • I just read the same thing over on Aaron's site where Hilton told him we're getting new "jerseys" with 28 different possible combinations. TWENTY-FREAKIN-EIGHT! Good Lord. Obviously, for us to have 28 possible combinations we have to be getting new jerseys, pants, and helmets....and most likely more than one new home, away and alternate of each. 28 possible combinations? That's some Oregon ish right there.

    Are you talking artist renderings? UK doesn't do artist renderings just ask blue mold. lol

  • If this is true, then SURELY UK will do a big marketing campaign around the new look to build excitement. Arizona State is doing that already. I figure at the very least we'll see the new unis unveiled at Fan Day like they did with this last uni change, but if its truly this big of a change (28 combo options), they really should do a full-blown marketing campaign. Then again, that probably makes too much sense for UK football.

    Marketing? What the hell is that? Oh wait.. you mean promoting the program to get the fans hyped up? /sarcasm.

    We can hope, Mj. If the 28 combinations are correct, we could see quite a few different uniforms this year. I don't think I'd be too against that, if it came about. As long as the colors aren't too drastic.

  • Just for the math to be close (I would assume it is 27), there would be 3 helmets, 3 jerseys, 3 pants.

    3 * 3 * 3 = 27 (If my Algebra is still good)

    Sure would be nice to get a sweet unveiling at Fan Day with the media all around.

    I hope it's true but I'll have to see them before I believe we go with anything other than blue and white. It would be interesting to see which alternative color they would go with, black...silver...gray?

    Agreed x10. I can't wait to see what they look like. A dark gray or black carbon fiber helmet as the alternate would be sweet. Picture Oregon's flat black carbon fiber helmet from last year, but with the blue interlocking UK (or power K) instead of the neon yellow "O".

    Going with this logic to get to 27 uni's, which makes a lot of sense, I made a very rough "rendering" (hey, it's more than we get from the "marketing" dept) just to depict all of the various possible color combinations. I assume UK will still have both blue and white editions of helmets, pants, and jerseys, and assumed (and hope for) the addition of a charcoal gray helmet, pants, and jersey. Again, it's a very rough draft, so view at your own risk!

  • I would love to see a cool marketing campaign or unveiling by UK similar to what AZ St and Nike did for their new Pro Combat uniforms (see attached link for an idea of what all types of ideas they're going with and what UK could do with it).

  • The last time UK had new unis, they called a marketing press conference to let a couple of players model the ones they have now. I *think* that occurred around July of that summer. I would expect them to do something like that again.

  • The way UK does Military Appreciation games, I'd love to see them get some like Utah had. I think those were Under Armor, though.
