Noel's LOI? (UK announced signing Thur.)

Cal would not mention Noel by name during his ESPN spot. Do you know if we have his letter yet? Are they just waiting till everyone is in and then they will comment at one time?

It's been their policy in the past to just wait for all the fall/spring signees and talk about them at the same time.

I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't sign an LOI but rather scholarship papers like Wall did.

Why? May he back out of his oral commitment?
The signing period ends May 16th. He has plenty of time.
Didn't Wall sputter around and not make a decision until after the signing period? Or was it that the Ncaa did not clear him soon enough?

The LOI does nothing for the player at all. It only protects the school and the NCAA, so if you are a highly enough ranked recruit, then i dont see any reason to sign it, unless the school you are atteending wont accept your verbal without the LOI.

I would do the exact same thing if I was that good a player. Stuff happens... coaches leave, teammates could have academic issues, family obligations, et. al. Worst case scenario is you hang in a cool European city for a year and make a million (Brandon Jennings).

So the kid announces on NAtional TV he is going to UK, shaves a UK logo in his head and is trying to recruit Bennett to UK but some are concerned about his commitment to UK. Ok whatever.

I am not worried about his commit. I was more concerened that AD was mentioning him if his letter was not in. I guess some people think it is wrong to ask a question on a message board.

I find it highly unlikely Mitch isn't aware of the rules and I doubt he or Cal is interested in sharing every detail about who and when every recruit files their paperwork with the fans. Cal will comment on Noel when he is ready to do so but needless worry is a waste of time.

His LOI is shaved on his head. He wouldn't shave UK on his head unless he was pretty sure he's coming to UK.

Bad thing about guys like me, if I want to know the answer to something, then I ask a question. Works most of the time.

He doesn't have to sign an LOI. He can simply sign Scholarship papers like Wall did...
