Nope... You guys do as UK does. Report tickets sold. Upper deck was about 1/3 empty and lower bowl was about 1/5 empty....

That's a lie. It's been proven... time and time again. UofL reports gate numbers. I was there and the stadium had spots of empty seats. But, the lower bowl was near capacity and the second deck was pretty full too.

  • Having a good UofL team in the ACC and a good UK team in the SEC helps the state, so we all win. Not sure why everyone gets so up in arms about the rivalry, just remember we are all Kentuckians. Granted I want my Cards to absolutely destroy UK every year, but other than that I root for the UK teams.

And please lets not get started talking about attendance. UK has a great track record of over exaggerating the number of people at the games. The more you lose the higher the disparity between announced and actual attendance becomes. Oh and I just found this gem, UK has actually stopped recording their attendance records all together. You stay classy kitty cats.

Actually we all know about how UK records its attendance, so you're attempt to swipe at UK fans is void. I hate it, I think it should be about gate attendance only. It makes the most sense, but then again common since seems to be lost on some. However, if you visited this site in the past month you would see UK fans complaining about the attendance recording method.

As for the current topic of this thread, I think UofL to the ACC is good. It is being reported that the SEC is looking to add UNC and dUKe. My only concern is the football game between UK and UofL. If, and that's a big if, the SEC expands that would mean that at least 1 non-conference game is going to be chopped and it better not be the UK and UofL game. I think this rivalry game is going to be more competitive within the next 3-4 years because of the addition of Stoops and possibly Coley. Cannot wait to see how all this pans out.

    cheers

  • UNC, NCstate, VT, and UVA are all a lock to leave the ACC. Two each to the B10 and the SEC. There won't be anything left of that conference as we know it other than Dook and GT.

On the contrary, a lot of people say that UNC and dUKe is a package deal; either both go or none of them go. As for NCST and VT dont be surprised if they go to the Big 10 or Big 12

  • It's all about the $$$ in college sports, especially football! The ACC can't come CLOSE to the SEC in terms of dollars to member institutions. Therefore, the mass exodus.

Wishful thinking on your part. If you think ESPN will let their flagship conference crumble, you are naive. In fact, it was FSU, Clemson, and VPI that got us in the ACC. There may be some movement, but nothing on the scale of what you are predicting.

    Keep hoping...

If you think the acc is Espn's flagship conference you may want to see who they post the $ to for the tv rights.

    I feel sorry for you.

Ha ha..you should count your lucky stars that you were grandfathered into the SEC, cause your football accomplishments aren't exactly stellar. See you next year on the field and good luck with your new coach.

  • I think Louisville should have pushed FSU a little harder and tried to get into the Big 12 with the Noles. Yes, the ACC is a better payday than what the Big East had. But it is nothing compared to the Big 12. The new ACC when this is all said and done will be mostly what the former Big East was; a basketball conference with a lot of the same teams in it. It's already happening.

Louisville had to go somewhere though. They are in a little bit of financial trouble. They are losing their butt right now on the YUM Center. That deal isn't going as well as they thought it would.

We all can't have the lowest rated Orange Bowl in T.V. history against two of the worst BCS Champions in its history on our resume.

But let's not forget that Fiesta Bowl against a 7-5 'Bama team because everybody else was boycotting the state of Arizona.

I hope our Athletic Department has the balls to end playing you guys in all sports. Series never should have started to begin with. You've built a lot off the backs of the flagship university of the Commonwealth. Maybe it's time for you fellas to fly solo and see how you do.

Umm, no. UofL has the largest athletic budget of all of the ACC schools. A cash cow.

  • I love how UK naming Stoops as their coach now makes him Gold in UK minds. Love the new T-Shirt! I remember similar comments when Joker hired Minter. He was given the name Nuclear by the loyalist and turned toxic. Now UL joins the ACC and it's going to all come crumbling down. What a fun 24 hours in the Bluegrass!

You do know U of L does not own the Yum Center? It is state and city financed. Whether it makes or loses money, it has zero effect on U of L.

The ACC jump ship talk began long before the Cards were invited.

As a matter of fact, numerous vocal Card fans made it a point to denigrate and ridicule the ACC as the worst of the power conferences, continually citing how the Big East was, in fact, better. Even after Syracuse and Pitt left, all I saw from Card fans was how those programs couldn't improve the terrible ACC and how the BE should be getting much more credit than the ACC due to the BE's superiority. All were saying the ACC was definitely going to be poached by the BigXII and cease to exist in the near future, despite the fabled ESPN favoritism.

Then Card fans got an invite to the ACC and now they would line up to give Swofford a handy behind the ACC HQ and the ACC is definitely going to be a power player and the BIGXII is going to crumble and UK fans are quaking in their boots because UL is going to be a part of something special and FSU/VT/Clemson will never leave and blah blah blah blah.

As for the T-shirt smack, I'm 100% positive the "Card Strong" shirts began literally the day after he was hired. Not surprised at UL fans' short memories, given the fact that they are, collectively, full of circular reasoning and idiocy.
