O-line a need?

Not so fast my friend(to quote Lee Corso!) I really think Jordan Swindle is a rare player. Kid is 6'8 310 and was the fastest Ol on the roster last year. I really like Meadows too..but I saw a post saying he could be used at TE some..and I think he needs a year to get stronger and add good weight(like all OL do). Its in ANY OLinemans best interests to redshirt..hit the weights..get stronger. Also..Kevin Mitchell is back..and he was our starting RT last year. I do think Meadows will wind up being a VERY VERY good OT...with NFL potential. THis staff, and Ol coach John Schlarman in particular..is high on Justin Day..6'8 290 incoming commit..kid had only been playing football for 9 months..was a Shrine Bowl selection off a team with a poor record. Could be a HUge sleeper! Shaq Love gets overlooked..but the former DT brings that defensive minded agression to OG..and is very quick a foot. I expect big things from Jordan Watson..kid has the right ammount of nasty in him. Zach Meyers should work well at C..his dad..Brad..was a very good Ol for UK. Zach was also one of the strongest players on the team last year as a true frosh..so I think he should pan out well for us.

Who said Meadows could be used some at TE? In this offense? Actually catching passes? Please expand on that for a brother.

  • meadows said on twitter that the coaches told him he could be used at tight end.

  • Thats interesting.

  • I think they are saying Meadows is an OT that could also be an eligible tight end like some tackles in college and the NFL. His primary position is OT, but he could technically go out for a pass on a suprise play.

Gotcha. Thanks for clearing that up Josh. I was having a hard time picturing him lining up as a pass catching TE.

Perhaps in a big package that people think we are about to run on. Interesting indeed.

  • Correct. They'll often put in an extra offensive tackle instead of a tight end to block or as a disguise and then send him out for a short pass.

  • I can see that used on 3rd and short in a critical situation or on the goal line.

  • Even though its Wikipedia, this is a good explanation.

I remember the Patriots doing it a lot with Mike Vrabel.
