Post an ad with a $3 Million Minimum and $1 Million per game over 5 wins in year 1 to 3, with a bonus if you go over. Anything over 6 wins gives you a multiple based on SEC vs out of conference.

Crazy I know but it would be curious to see which agents make the call. They get paid as well so they will push.

The loss in revenue more than pays for it. More years like this hurt the Univeristy and other sports.

What about Sonny Dykes, HC at Louisiana Tech? Was an assistant here under Mumme, has worked with Mike Leach, and obviously knows a thing or two about coaching offense. I just wonder what we'd have to pay him...Also, from Texas...

You clearly don't understand SEC football. It takes more than just a coach and to get the kind of coach you are talking about you have to have other things in place. Its the exact reason why we won't get Bobby Petrino. He knows we don't have the right kind of commitment to football. And its not about just going to bowl games every year. Its about trying to win the SEC East.

Barnhart could then get the search started right away. Problem is, for high profile candidates we will have to wait for other situations (Arkansas, Tennessee, auburn etc...) to shake out.

How about that coach from Duke, he turned a team who couldn't beat Richmond at home...to a team who just murdered VT 42-17. He is a SEC kind of guy, had the background, hard nosed no BS kind of coach. If you can win at Duke, you can win anywhere in my books.

Lets put it this way, UK is in much better shape than Duke has been for years in football, and Duke is 6-1, and UK is 1-6, Vandy is ahead of UK as of now in football (btw I hate the vandy hype and not a franklin fanatic either).

I wouldn't mind Joker being demoted to OC and a new HC coming in, I could understand demoting Randy to just QB coach, and Summers as OL, but a change at the top is needed.

You just don't get it. Jokers salary is $1.8 million. Throwing another $2.2 million at someone and offering them $4 million per year is much better than losing $10-$20 million per year because ticket sales are down and no one comes to the games. A horrendous football program that generates little money at UK, where the athletic department is self sustaining and gets no help from the university, is much more detrimental to UK basketball than paying an extra $2-$3 million per year for a coach and making a TON more money for the entire athletic program.

Understand that football is the cash cow that drives all sports! Even here at UK where basketball is king! It's not a hard concept to understand. You will make up the extra $3 million you spend on a head coach in ticket sales alone. Not to mention all the revenue it will create in sponsorships, media and advertising, and even the sales from things such as clothing apparel. I do not understand how you all think spending money on a coach and a football program will hurt basketball when our pathetic football program already helps to pay for our basketball program.

Now all that said, you cant just throw that kind of money at just any coach. If you can't find a coach of that class to come here, then obviously you don't spend that kind of money. But the effort has to first be made, and that effort will be made this time. Bank on it.

There are coaches who know how to run a football program. They don't come to UK because UK doesn't give the the situation they need to succeed. You need a lot of money for coaches. You need money for support including personnel and recruiting budgets. You need a degree of independence to run the program without the AD breathing down your neck. Finally you need to have control of most of the funds generated by football. UK is a nice school in a very nice town. We play in the best conference in the country and have a rabid fan base. There are drawbacks like the number of players produced in state but honestly I don't see that being as big an issue as decades ago. Most teams recruit regionally anyway and a lot of kids want to play in the SEC. The key is will UK put up the money and give up control? Just hiring another coach into the same failing situation will just produce the same results. The BOT and AD should meet with Brooks and then Joker to get a read of what needs to be done for the next coach.

This has been my message for a long time, but if the administration does as you suggest, and I believe it should do, then why not make that commitment to Joker? Joker brings some things to the UK football table that no other coach out there can bring, loyalty and commitment to UK first.

This has been the puzzle for me. That is why I sadly conclude that the administration is simply going to swing the revolving coach door once again.
