OT: Ryan White flips to Vandy

  • FootballFan1st said...

    and neither can UK.

The difference between your statement and USA's is that UK fans were already despairing about not being able to get in the door with those kids.

Your fans had them signed, sealed, and delivered. Right up until they weren't.

  • Good luck to him.

The elite high school prospects from Louisville are never going to UK 99% of the time. But let's keep playing UofL!

People bitch and moan about UK Football but right there is one of the highest problems: Drop the series in all sports. It's only played because of political reasons anyway. Louisville is not nor has ever been UK's rival until the politicians got involved and even worse 25 years ago when football got factored into the equation it basically saved their entire athletic department.

Frankly, any and all success they've had is built upon our backs.

  • White says Vandy was a better fit for him educationally and that his decision feels right this time around.

"“When I committed to Louisville I was nervous about it ... Now that I’m committed to Vanderbilt, it feels right and I’m excited.”

  • I know its bad but I literally want to come out and say that I hate these Trinity kids for not giving UK a serious look. I won't say that though. lol.

  • Rumor has it that James Quick is now reevaluating everything and is seriously looking at the University of Cincinnati due to their close proximity and spread passing offense.

  • Wow, what a dumb thought process if true. UC has been shown to be a training ground school for coaches, if anyone has a year or 2 of good results they are hired away. Mich St hired one away from there, then Notre Dame. Butch Jones is a highly thought of coach going into the 2012 season already.

Not surprised he would be turned off by Strong's running game offense, rumor has it Devontay Parker (and his people) feel the same way.

  • Lose one to Vandy and the other to UC. While I sure as hell hope UofL doesn't get either and bask in the glow that brings me its unbelievable that we weren't a serious player with any of the kids and literally never even had a chance.

It sucks, but I wouldn't consider it unbelievable. If these kids grew up UL fans, then it makes sense. My kids would NEVER go to UL under any circumstances imaginable, ever.

True. Not unbelievable. Just tough to swallow.

To me, losing the Trinity kids isn't nearly as deflating as losing kids like Lamar Dawson and Hunter Biven whom both lived in UK Friendly territory to say the least.

Would you want to play for a traditionally moribund football program?

I wish people would stop relating UK "fanhood" as some sort of catchall. It isn't.

If my son was an elite football prospect I'd honestly tell him to do what's best for him and his future. To be perfectly blunt, based on history, that would not include UK.

  • Quick is going full retard if he goes to UC. I get going to a bigger out of state school (bama etc.), I get going to Vandy instead of UK, you want big time conference but not UK. But if your Quick and you want to stay close to home but don't want UofL, that leaves UK. Going to UC and whatever conference they are going to play in reaks of rediculously misplaced man pride. He is so biased and against playing for UK that he will allow that to cloud his judgement about what may be best move for his future career. UK offers top flight competition and proximity to home, at some point a man needs to swallow his pride and do the right thing for himself and not worry about what any relative thinks.
