"At this point I think it is imperative that we use the scholarships left in the 12 class on offensive skill position players. We simply do not have enough and need guys that can make an impact within their first two years. The 09 and 10 classes were weak in talent, especially the 5 scholarships we have used on TEs that have made a minimal impact thus far. I'm of the opinion that instead of recruiting TE body types and then moving them to LB or DE, recruit extra guys at DE or LB and move them to TE if they don't cut it on defense, they aren't being used in the passing game anyway (yeah that is a joke but seriously why recruit another TE if they can't make a difference in the passing game?) "
The most important piece of the post. I agree 100%.

When a good coach, but not an impact head coach recruits in the SEC, he will get the three star leftovers, two star non-SEC capable players and once in a while the do called "diamond in the rough."
Bottom line, that is barely good enough to rate just above Vandy or perhaps at the bottom with Vandy.
If UK ever wants to fully participate in SEC football, it will need the full commitment of the UKAA and the university. Since that hasn't happened (despite a spike upward followed by probation) on 60 years, the smart money says get used to the last place.
Keep Calm & Stoops On..

Great post slinger. The misses at the skill positions in previous classes is definitely hurting UK offensively. One of the biggest problems was recruiting HS QB to play WR. That gamble has yet to pay dividends. BTW, Gainer got a few carries in an earlier game and ran the ball pretty well.

I am confused.
By doing that as you suggested how will that influance the 4 and 5 star rated players to commit to UK. I think they could care less about the commitment of the UKAA.
Yeah, Yeah - spend the money and the recruits will come. Still have my doubts about that.
