Ole Miss just popped anything left of UK's bubble

  • UK is not a good team and NOT worthy of a bid anyway... Just a fact..gotta have players and UK doesn't have the "right" type..next year..different story.

  • Who knows. But UK is the only bubble team to beat its conference's regular season and tournament champions. And one was on the road.

  • May help UK.

Nope ... by getting the SEC automatic bid ... it removes Ole Miss from the Bubble and takes an at-large bid away from the remaining Bubble teams.

  • I think UK was/is relying on 4 from sec. That's what I meant. And if the three locks are teams we went 3-1 against, that could help our case for the 4th bid. Our Rpi is much better than I thought also, and top 50 wins. We are very close to a bid at worst

  • The SEC is going to get four. Ole Miss was in before today's win by virtue of beating Mizzou. It's going to be between Kentucky and Tennessee.

I seriously doubt it had an impact on the bracket selection. I believe that as soon as Ole Miss won yesterday they were already moved out of the last four in to a solid seed win or lose. The committee would not want to work on those scenarios with only two hours to go if Ole Miss was only in with a win.

Gotta believe that us beating the SEC tourney champion on their own court has to get us the edge, even though we got pasted at Tennessee.

  • I hope the committe looks at it this way. Espn absolutely will not acknowledge uks wins against the three locks and Maryland.

Just listened to Greg Shaheen ... former selection committee member and expert analyst and consultant who's been on all the selection shows over the last couple of weeks ... and he stated that Ole Miss's conference tourney win did indeed affect the bracket selections for the tournament. Every time a bubble team or a team that would not otherwise get in wins one of the automatic bids from their conference tournament, an at-large bid is removed from the pool of remaining bids for the lock team that would have gotten the automatic bid with a conference tourney championship. (These are the teams that they call 'bid-stealers'.)

There are 31 automatic bids and 37 at-large invitations.

If Florida wins the conference tournament, they in effect get both an at-large bid and an automatic bid since they would have been in the tournament anyway. There are still 37 at-large bids available for remaining bubble teams to fight over after Florida takes the automatic bid.

If Ole Miss wins the conference tournament as either a bubble team or a team that wouldn't have gotten in, now they get the automatic bid and Florida who is a lock gets an at-large bid. Now, because Florida has taken an at-large bid that they wouldn't have taken with the automatic bid, there are only 36 at-large bids available for remaining bubble teams to fight over.
