  • Reaper may be right on this one. Bama's a tough, physical team who can flat out D it up. UK will have its hands full in that one.

  • They won't lose at home I don't think, I personally think 1st one comes at Vandy, then Miss St & at Fla, 13-3 should win SEC outright probably. Cal expects them to play anyone you want, grind, full out, what ever, which they can with their talent. Plus it's at home so UK gets the edge if it was at Bama I might be a little more worried.

  • If it was at Bama, I have zero doubt in my mind we would lose. That little airport hangar of a gym is one of the toughest places to play when Bama is playing well. The fans qre right on top of the floor and they are very obnoxious. With it being at Rupp, I am not too worried, but Jones, Lamb and Miller had better wake the eff up for that one. Tony Mitchell is a beast.

  • If Bama tries to man up on UK they will not beat UK at Rupp but if they zone UK will struggle and could get beat. Spotty outside shooting is UKs weakness and they are getting in foul trouble trying to take the ball inside against packed in zones.

    C1180

  • Last I checked UK played really good defense as well. Plus we have better players.

    bigcat65

  • Outside shooting is not Alabama's strong point either..We wont lose to them at Rupp.

    wildcatdon

  • That is going out on a limb simply because it is at home. I could see them beating us at their place or at a neutral site, but I think we'll be too tough for them at home.

But then again, Cal has to lose at home sometime...right?

I love how if you don't pick the Cats to go undefeated you're a doom and gloomer. roflmao

In all seriousness though, they aren't going undefeated in SEC play and I've said all along I thought they'd be 13-3 because they are still a work in progress. Alabama has the exact type of team that could beat them - physical defense, slow pace, quality bigs, fearless disposition, good coaching. The thing about Bama is it doesn't shoot well, but we saw last year they did make shots against Kentucky. If Mitchell and Trevor Lacey (who probably will want to prove something given his recruiting scenario) throw in a few threes, given the way Kentucky's halfcourt offense has looked this season, especially recently, it's a pretty legitimate pick.

We have quality bigs and we tend to play up or down to our competition.

UK wins for the mere fact the Cats have MKG and Davis. I say we drop two SEC games at Vandy and at UF because of 3 point shooting.

  • My vote is that we'll win all the ones everyone "doubts" and lose one that no one expects...

Welcome the new generation of domination.

  • Good points Matt. However, I think that with Alabama already not shooting well from 3, plus our length, athleticism - IF we rebound, we win. I think the rebounding battle and fouls will be where it is won on this game. I still pick UK with it being at home.

    TheBluesBrother

  • It's not an over the top crazy pick. I wouldn't pick UK's first loss to come at home. Come to think of it I don't think any pick of UK loosing in the SEC is an over the top crazy pick. That's the SEC. If you pick a night to kick back and not bring it you'll lose.

  • I'm not necessarily saying I predict UK will lose Saturday, but here's why I can definitely understand Matt's suggestion:

-UK really struggled with Auburn and Tennessee slowing the game down to a halt.

-Alabama will do the same thing.

-Alabama is much better than Auburn and Tennessee.

Yes, those games were on the road, but Anthony Grant came into Rupp Arena in his first year (2009-10) and was not intimidated at all with a team that was pretty lousy against a UK team that was every bit as good as this year's, albeit in different ways.

I think we beat Bama at home and UF on the road. The game at Vandy will be tough as always. Go Cats!!

  • You earned that rep, ;) JK, but as I said I would be more worried if it was on the road. That said we picked similar records of 13-3 curious then you say Bama at home who do you predict as the other 2 losses & do you think that wins the SEC outright?

  • At Tuscaloosa and its a toss up. At Rupp, I just don't see this possibly happening , especially with the students back. It aint happening. Big Al goes home with his trunk between his legs.
