PICK 6???

  • With 19 commits..UK is down to its final 6 spots for the 2013 class..imo the best class in recent memory..perhaps ever.
    No one knows exactly whos coming and whos not..so I tought id ask everyone if you could pick 6 kids..to fill the class..who would you pick?? Try to keep it down to kids we are linked to..with offers..but have fun and lets talk some football!!
    My 6
    1: Ryan Timmons: Rare athlete for the Bluegrass state. Speed kills. Rt would be a serial killer.
    2: Jason Hatcher. YOu can never get enough pass rushers.
    3: Jarran Reed: If Saban wants you..you can play defense.
    4: Denver Kirkland: Massive OT would make this class great.
    5:James Hearns: hope this kid somehow qualifies.
    6:Dayln Dawkins: Even with Kemp..DD would be a great add..can also play cb. Fearless..fast,and has moves.
    I also like Stacy Thomas at Lb..kid had a FSU offer from Stoops..I wonder why Stoops hasnt got on the kid for UK?
    I think Cam Fogle could be a huge walk-on..6'1 190 4.4..kid can ball.
    OK..thats more than 6..LoL..let me hear your guys 6..

    I've just got an uncanny feeling that come Wednesday afternoon, there will be at least one name that will have us saying, "Whoa! Where the *$%@ did he come from?"

    Most pleasant signing day surprise imagineable?

    1b. Godwin Igwebuike - for no other reason than I just want to see the kid in Blue
    3. Janarion Grant or Ra'Shaad Samples if Timmons decides he wants to be a future handbag.

    Is UK actually involved with Kirkland? I have not heard them linked at all, but I would replace DD with a Corey Smith or a Mr. Lawson who is the LSU commit. Also switch Kirkland (only bc I don't think UK lands him) with one of already mentioned, or for someone like Samples. I don't see Hearns qualifying so I'm going with my top 6. I think the offense will be good and defense will be more key.

    I agree on Timmons, I have heard there's a good chance we take Corey Smith and Hatcher, Haynes will probably be our last OL we take in this class. Good chance we may take Stacy Thomas, hearing it's less than likely Hearns will make the grades. Could be a surprise or two we haven't heard yet but one thing that has been said since Badet and Kemp committed tonight, WR, DE, DT, OL, LB. TIFWIW

  • Hearing this as of now:

    - Haynes per Josh and Chris
    - Timmons per Josh and Chris

    Those two are definties.

    - Hatcher per Josh (he hasn't backed down so that puts me at 85%)

    That puts at 22 for the most part. Have to assume that we have one of the big-name LB's ready to roll. That leaves one as Josh's silent verbal and one of Coach Stoops surprise commits.

    I'm happy as hell either way at this point.

  • Nice picks by all..and Minter..I agree..I WANT Corey Smith in UK blue..a 6'7 250lb DE that runs like a OLB?? No brainer..and now that its looking iffy for Hearns to qualify..I think we should tell Lyn Clark..Smiths teammate..a good looking LB prospect..we can make room for him as well. I think LB is the 2nd most "need" area on defense..behind De..which looks like it got shored up quick with this class (Z.Smith,A.Bell on board..Hatcher and c.Smith as possibles..) LB however..still dont have a LB on board for 2013..and this surprises me. Especially if the rumblings about Bud Dupree moving to De are true!

    As far as Denver Kirkland..we put out feelers and I think offer a while back..when Stoops made the Booker T visit to offer Matt thomas..the stud 5 star Lb. Kirkland just got released from Miami..or backed out..Kirkland is a 6'4 335lb bulldozer. Odds are hes FSU bound..but I never count Stoops out anymore.

    I also agree on the thoughts there will be at least 1 Huge NSD surprise..who it is I have no clue..but wouldnt it be great if a BIg time..BIG TIME as in 5 star kid announces for UK on ESPN next WEd? Imagine the boost in buzz with that kinda UK publicity?
    I meant this as a pick your most wanted type..but if you want my most reasonable..most feasible 6..that would be Timmons, Hatcher, Haynes, C.Smith, 1 DT(Reed,Lawson,Bryant), and a Lb Hearns if he makes the grades..Thomas if he dont..and from what im hearing..Stacey Thomas wouldnt be a bad 2nd option at LB!!

    That kid could be Asiantii Woulard. He's friends with both Badet and Kemp, and Badet said on the radio that he's looking forward to playing with 3 guys that he's been playing on Friday nights. I don't know who he meant. Was it him plus 3 other guys, or was he including himself in the 3. Badet played against Blake McClain's Winter Park team, and Asianti Woulard is also on that Winter Park team. Could Woulard be a silent verbal to UK?

    I know that most people seem to think that Woulard will be going to UCLA, and others thought it would be Clemson before that. I'm pretty sure that Kentucky is 3rd on his list. Does the addition of his friends Badet and Kemp, along with his teammate McClain make UK an even stronger draw now? We'll find out soon, I guess. Woulard will announce his choice at 12:30pm on National Signing Day.

  • I know this sounds crazy..but since this is a wishlist type post..my thoughts on the mystery/silent verbal..we all think Stoops has a big time silent..waiting to announce for UK on NSD.
    How great would it be if this kid turned out to be Matthew Thomas..the 5 star lb from Booker T Washington in Miami?? Kid is still undeclared..and we have told a couple pretty good LB prospects we dont have room..Lyn Clark being one..the dominoes are set up right..huh? That said..its late..and i know it sounds crazy..but..who knows?

    All kidding aside, this class is unreal. Met Coach Stoops 2 weeks ago, what a great guy. He was out with the staff after entertaining recruits, had them at the table and was really focused going thru things. Never have I seen such energy around our program. It can be his for as long as we can keep him. Just have the feeling he will bring in some more big timers before NSD and cannot wait to see how it all shakes out.
