Good call. Hilarious to watch vandy's bench making the "ring" gesture in he closing seconds and to see Jenkins on the floor crying. That should explain why we lost. That game meant so much more to them. Let down city for vandy in second/first round.

  • Could be, but Jeremy Lin isn't walking through that door. I think Vandy beats the Crimpson, but exits shortly thereafter. They've lost too many games to people they had no business losing to this year to put together enough wins to go far...

Won't happen, Jeff. Vandy is starting to play the way most people thought they would at the beginning of the season. I'm sure Harvard hasn't seen anybody shoot 3's the way Vandy does.

Give 'em credit for doing what it took today, but UK had a late lead and just missed a lot of open shots at the end. It's hard to say that without sounding bad, but do you really feel like that Vandy did something sensational today or did UK just play out of character? I think it was more of the latter.

Ummm they have shot 33% or less from 3 their last 8 games, they are actually shooting worse now than earlier in the season. Personally it wouldn't shock me at all if Vandy lost to Harvard.

It's tought to get a team back up emotionally after the game they had today. You don't often see a BCS coach crying after winning a conf. tourney and his players were as well. They literally reached a goal that was over 60 years in the making, what kind of pep talk comes after that?

Said the same thing earlier to my sister. I'd put money on it.

I hope you are wrong. Doesn't say much about our UK team if true, considering we lost to them once, and they played us close the other 2 times. I truly believe we are legit, but I certainly hope this isn't just another year we look good because the SEC is that weak.

  • Would not be surprised. Vandy can't sustain any success. People will be picking them to win some games now.......suckers.

    tWhit

  • Vandy is guaranteed to do the opposite of what Drum forecasts. If he picks them, they will lose. If he has them going out in the first round, they will be in the regional championship.

Never happen. I think you are trying to get us talking. Vandy is now the solid team they were expected to be. They are good at every position, good shooters and tough. Let's face it, we fizzled out at the end, but they didn't. They will do better in the tournament than most here believe.

I understand your thought pattern, but I really don't think it's what it would appear to be. We have played a short bench all year long and to play 3 days in a row in addition to the long winning streak we had, I think the cards were in favor of Vandy today. I don't think on a normal day's rest we would have fell short. Vandy was playing one of their best games and were up for the Cats. They are prime for a letdown. This allows UK to re-focus and zero in on what they need to do to win 6 in a row.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

  • I'm conflicted. I thought about this before I made my choice, but I just can't see this Vandy team losing to Harvard. They have to buck the trend at some point.

If Vandy loses in the first round it doesn't mean they suck. It just means they suck in the big boy tourney. Anybody who has seen them play knows they have a good team. One turd in the NCAA means goodnight. Them losing in the first round means nothing to UK's legitimacy. We beat the second best team in the country in UNC. If you want to base how legit this team is on who they've played.

Nah. Has nothing to do with UK's ability, which has been validated.

    (A) Vandy plays up -- often WAY up -- to UK. Look what it meant to those guys today. The freakin' head coach was mentally exhausted and crying on the bench after the game. You don't get that same Vandy team consistently, and that's a big reason why they flame out in the NCAA Tournament.

    (B) Harvard's pretty good.

I like their personnel. There is no doubt they are capable of making a deep run. I just don't trust them in a tourney setting when they're playing someone that doesn't have "KENTUCKY" across the chest. They lost SIX games in a weak SEC this season.

  • SEC teams have a history of throwing a clunker after a win over UK. I suspect it might be an adrinaline overload syndrome.

    C1180

  • Vandy is loaded with seniors, if they can't get it done this year they never will.

    JohnBlue_

  • Harvard is No. 39 in KenPom. Don't sleep on 'em.

Vegas says it's a 6-point spread right now.

Harvard's strength is defense and rebounding, weakness is ball-handling, but Vandy isn't the type of team to put tremendous pressure on guards. Tinsley and Jenkins won't overwhelm the Crimson ball-handlers.

  • I would like to see Vandy go up against Syracuse. I think they could light that zone up but based on their past tourney appearances it would not surprise me if Harvard takes them out..

  • Hrmmm,

Last 2 years, i picked vandy to do well.

This year...i don't know why...but i will be picking them to do well again.

    Sigh...here we go again.

  • I'm a sucker for punishment. I think vandy will do well this year because their sr's are hungry. I think their coach chokes more in the NCAA than a pubescent teen in a victoria secret closet but they will do well inspite of their coach.
