Mister Cobble and Donte Rumph were on the prowl, and when Kentucky's inseparable pair of big cats are left uncaged an unsuspecting teammate often becomes playful prey.

  • Thanks for the article. I sure hope they have monster years. Two 300+ pound DTs making a lot stops means teams aren't getting much in the way of yardage. I hope Coleman and the freshman are having good camps too. We probably need 5-6 of those guys banging in the middle.

  • Great article Matt. If an all SEC lineman like Warford says you don't want mess with them they can probably pick on whoever they want. I mean what the hell you gonna do about it! LOL!surrenderlol

Granted, this was about a week ago when David Turner told me this about Coleman, but sounds like he's kind of in football purgatory right now:

"Sometimes it's good to play freshmen who are ready to play but sometimes they think college football is easy and don't work quite as hard because they came in and played as a freshman. Christian is stuck in both worlds. He hasn't figured out this a little bit tougher than what he thought it was. He thought because he played he'd come in and play this year but right now he's a guy that's got to step his game up. Right now he's not one of the better guys."

  • And to think that Rum-Ble (Rumph, Cobble combo) can also be here next yr as well. I don't think they'd leave early, but you never know.

  • Cobble and Rumph are a very, very good pair of DT with Coleman as a steady back-up. Would really like to see Tristian Johnson go out big in his SR year and become a solid, fourth DT.

  • sounds to me like coleman is not going to be third man up. i think tristian johnson and douglas are ahead of him right now in the tackle rotation.

Tristian will see plenty of time in the role that Freaky Luke played last year.

Here was Joker's quote on Tristian Johnson from the practice notes last week:

"I really think Tristian Johnson has made as much improvement as anyone this offseason. He was a guy you couldn't really count on but now he's becoming one of those reliable guys. We think he'll get the Luke McDermott reps. He's the 'Black Luke'. He's the guy that fought his way (into the mix) because he was not always a guy we could count on, on the field or off it. He tried to be the class clown and real goofy guy and now he's become the responsible guy we thought he was when we got him. He deserves to play. We'll have a package for him. He'll have the same role Luke McDermott had."
