Or the Triplett kid. I think he was pretty highly rated also.

I think you guys are talking about DeAndre Brown. The guy was a stud till this injury in the bowl game his FR year.

  • judging by rivals, it looks like he recruits Louisiana pretty hard. In 2011 alone he had two commit from there but was in the mix for about 9

What is exactly the rule with these GA's and unpaid assistants? Can they be/are they part of recruiting?

I don't think they are allowed to recruit.

  • GA's and unpaid assistants can't recruit off campus. Not sure what interaction they are allowed on campus though.

As long as a guy has juice they will be able to recruit kids. It may help them relate more if they are younger, but juice can overcome that. Plenty of top recruiting coaches are over the age of 30.

  • Not sure why this isn't considered a "sexy hire". All the guy has done is produced one NFL WR after another and won. I don't know why every thinks a great recruiter has to be in his 20s. KYs staff got better in many ways with this hire.

  • So we have a DB coach who has, put a bunch of guys into the league. Now we have a WR coach who can say the same? Sounds good to me.

Welcome to the site by the way welcome

Thanks Chris. Look forward to following you guys. Go Cats!

  • ANd he was the starting QB at Auburn and teamate of Bo Jackson! Might not mean much to young kids, but Bo Jackson may have been the best football player I ever watched. If he hadn't gotten hurt, there's no telling what he might have accomplished.

  • UK 's WR corps needs a coach. They just got a great one. He's coached in the south his entire career. This is a very good hire.

  • This is not sour grapes because Tee left but it was in the paper today which is why I bring it up. They were talking about Tee's impact on recruiting and accordingly to the Rivals.com recruiting base, Tee was the LEAD recruiter on SEVEN players who signed with Kentucky in 2011. However he was the only the LEAD recruiter on THREE players who signed in 2012. Does that show that maybe the rest of the staff stepped up in 2012 or not?

I'd say it definitely shows that.

  • yeah, Paterno, Bear Bryant, and Bobby Bowden, couldn't coach or relate to kids after they turned 50. Some should read history before posting.

Tee had much more of an impact on 2011 than the 2012 class that is for sure. But he still was very solid for us, its just that 2012 we had more people contribute, espeically Nord, Pardue Summers.

The message boards have been kind of crazy the last couple of days. Some people give Tee too much credit and act like he was the only recruiter on the staff. Others want to act like he will not be missed because he wasn't a strong WR coach and are even short changing his recruiting efforts.

I think he will be missed on the trail, due to the "juice" that he brings. There is a reason why Bama and USC wanted him. However, given the circumstances I think that Joker got a pretty good hire here in Washington.

  • An unmentioned asset of this hire, apparently Washington has some significant special teams coaching in his background as well

    JHB4UK

  • As much as I did like Tee, other than some recruiting what did he do to make the team better. The WR's could not catch the ball and they ran poor routes!!! If this man can coach up the players he gets then he is a much better hire than you think. Getting a 4 or 5 star player is one thing, making them better is another. I like this hire, and I do think he will help the offense alot.
And a coaches age is crazy. Look at Joe pa, Bobby Bowden, and so on. Kids want to play for a coach and a team that will help them get to the NFL.

    dvillepro1

  • Good hire now coach up the receivers to catch a ball. I really think his ability to recruit won't matter if the WR's drop ball after ball and we lose games because of it.

Welcome to the BBN Coach Washington.
